welcome to the nature of right wing politics in europe at the moment. where racism and xenophobia is seen as populist. basically lots of the racist & xenophobic parties are using anti-eu rhetoric to make them seem more palatable even the tories took a shift with their eu parliament group, they used to be with the CDU but moved on to a more right wing one IT’S A MESS
Ugh. I was listening to a story today about what is happening to prominent black members of French society and it was kinda stupidly bracketed in the whole "Is France becoming more racist?" And the story tried to tie the behavior towards the Justice Minister to frustration with Hollande but you know, they're not mocking Hollande with banana peels and comparing him to a monkey.
And then it was saying how hard it is for Le Pen to distance herself from the rank and file, but then tells me she's gonna go hang out with Geert Wilders and alarm bells are ringing in my head.
