a little bit more info about Fiona, and K-Dance’s dancing after she left

Katie followed Abby to the dance studio to go watch K-Dance dance, but left before K-Dance saw her, honestly, I was not planning that, it just happened

which ended up screwing up my original planning for this, because I was gonna have their date thing after her dance class, but that is not how things are happening so I guess that’s another day

Katie’s afterschool club is starting up again, i guess

then I switched over to Johno, going to ask Ranji to be his coach which I was also not planning

but then he ran into Angie there, which I kind of was planning, and she just got the message back from her mother, and I guess it told her about Noah and Hunter, and Noah’s death, although she hasn’t said their names that

so I guess Noah has now been introduced to the story

also Johno keeps offering to drive people places even though he has no car????

I think Johno and Angie are setting something up, I wasn’t really planning on them being a thing, but it seems to be going that way, of course, I also wasn’t planning on him and Abby being a thing but they are

Progress:

introduced a new character, Ranjit Mishra, so far only called Ranji in the story, he’s Angie’s coach for her drone thing, and works at her high school, he tries to calm her down when she’s panicking. 

today’s writing was pretty much all from Angie’s POV, right after she finds out her dad is awake, while waiting for Katie to come down and tell her she’s found a ride

thus more information about Angie, which is good, and how long she’s been into the whole drone obstacle course thing, and her coach, and how long she’s known Johno

more info on Johno, from Angie, and from himself, because he came and talked to Angie, which is the first time we’ve seen him without Abby or K-Dance there, also I gave Johno a last name, so now his full name is John O’Lander, and he goes by Johno, so that’s cool

I did all of my writing today while I was on the treadmill, and ended up staying on the treadmill for 48 minutes instead of the usual 30 ‘cause I was pretty into the story 

K-Dance/Katie interaction witnessed from another person, both Angie and Johno

So the subplots that need to be tied up still:

Abby’s sister Jade and getting her out of a bad situation. Am I still doing that thing where I kill Abby’s dad? I mean, it was there for a reason, but that reason wasn’t entirely story related. But I know I need a scene where Abby talks to Katie about Jade because it’s how they bond. 

Fiona knowing about K-Dance and being curious. What’s up with that? Why is it happening? Does she still have feelings for K-Dance? What would K-Dance do if she came back? Would she go right back to her? 

The Destroyer. Does he actually know or was that just a random thought I had?

I feel like there’s something up with Matt’s friend Charlie. But also, Matt in general. Where is his health going? How do I wrap that up? Because honestly, Matt’s health has been the central focus of this, so I feel like it’s gotta be significant until the end and end on a note. I mean, he’s back home now, but it can’t be over, not yet. 

Abby and Angie and Johno. I’ve been contemplating a triad, but at the same time I don’t know. Abby and Johno can’t last. But where are they going? And do we see it end? And how does Angie fit in? Because they are both bonding hardcore with Angie and something is going on there. 

How does K-Dance’s competition go? Does she win? I know that she ends up having success with these programs in general. 

I feel like there’s more with Courtney too

Also, I feel like I have to do something else with Mikaia. I don’t know what.

I feel like Courtney might get a bit of a bigger role. They were there as a place holder for awhile, a random student that played a small role. 

But I feel like they’re more important than that? And also, they’re non-binary so that’ll be cool. And it will mean more than one trans character, so that’s cool too. The question is, what role will they actually play? Perhaps someone on the track team. The track team is a pretty important thing in Katie’s life that is going to start taking up a decent amount of her time soon. And I want to put in all aspects of what makes Katie, Katie. Plus, it gives a good contrast in Katie’s relationships with students. She is relatively invested in some of the kids on the track team, because she’s been coaching them the last three years and spends enough time with them on busses to meets and what not to get to know them. But it’s entirely different from the way she is invested in K-Dance and some contrast on that might be useful, especially as she’s sorting through her emotions and the decisions to let this go for now. 

So I think Courtney might end up as my track person for that. Except they’re a freshman, so it’ll be their first year on the track team. So maybe there will be another character as well.

General musing about Abby and Johno and Angie.

Alright, so I’ve been thinking. Right now, Abby and Johno are together. 

Originally, Johno was gay. He has now decided that he is bisexual and experimenting with girls because he had previously thought he was gay and Abby changed his mind.

Also, originally, Johno was literally just a passing mention to demonstrate how hot Katie is, but like now he’s an actual character. 

From what I was reading the other day, Abby has a crush on K-Dance. It only says she came out in middle school, not if she was gay or bisexual. It was kind of implied that she was gay, but not enough that it would be a contradiction if she was bi .So Abby is bi, I think. 

Now, a gay boy and a girl with a crush on her best friend are not your typical romance. So at this point, I’m inclined to think the relationship is not exactly what they say it is. An attempt on Abby’s part to make K-Dance jealous, or to move on. But also a safe exploration on Johno’s part. As in, he doesn’t not feel entirely romantic about Abby, but she is a close friend and he trusts her enough to explore his orientation with her. So it’s not a fake relationship, but it’s not what they’re showing to the world either. Abby doesn’t like him romantically, but she does care about him as a friend. Not the most healthy of relationships but a lot of this is supposed to be similar to the kind of bullshit I would pull in high school, and tbh, that’s the kind of thing I would end up in back before I learned better. 

They’re talking about K-Dance now with Angie, and I think Angie is going to realize that they aren’t as committed as they seem and that Abby obviously has a crush on K-Dance. 

I do want to make it clear that K-Dance doesn’t have any romantic feelings for Abby. Not now. Not in the past. Maybe kind of in the future? But her endgame is Katie, even if that’s years down the line. She might try something with Abby in the meantime, but it’s never going to be what Abby wants out of it. 

Now, for some reason awhile ago I had it in my mind that the event that brings Katie and K-Dance back together in the future is Johno and Angie’s wedding. Which is a weird thing. I’m not sure why they would end up together. It might be years down the line. But I want to set the stones for their future friendship. They become close, regardless. 

So Abby doesn’t end up with Johno. And that’s okay. 

Also, I barely have any straight main characters? Angie. And I guess... KT? She’s not entirely a main. The parents. 

The main characters at this point are: K-Dance, Katie, Angie, Abby and only Angie is straight there. Or is she? I’ve never actually explored her orientation. 

I did decided that Matt is very protective of her dating. She’s 16 and when her mom was her age, she already had a 2 year old. He wants a better future for her. Which is fair.

a little bit more conversation between Katie and K-Dance, I’m not done with their date but there’s a scene in between 

Abby bothering Angie and Johno while they work on their drones and whining that K-Dance won’t answer the phone even though she’s on a date

which is prompting a discussion about Abby’s thoughts of Katie and K-Dance together

I’m pretty sure it’ll be revealed tomorrow that Abby totally has a crush on K-Dance, but I’m not entirely sure how yet. I haven’t decided if I want Angie to become aware that Abby and Johno are only kind of actually dating, and making it seem like they are to K-Dance because Abby is attempting to make her jealous? Or to move on? I don’t entirely know what Abby is doing, but I think I’ll figure it out tomorrow.

Spent a bit of time plotting while I was on a walk earlier plotting a bit more on Abby and Johno’s relationship and I think it’s not quite as much of a show as I was thinking it was. There is something real there. But Johno is exploring his sexuality right now, and regardless the relationship isn’t what they’re making it seem to K-Dance.
