Da Youngstas “Mad Props” (1994)

1993′s “Crewz Pop” and “Iz You Wit’ Me”. Then the following year, “Hip-Hop Ride”. It kept getting better and better. “Mad Props” had to be their best. You knew Tarik, Taji, and Qu’ran were out to win when you heard them spit their greatest lyricism, even though their verses and bridges were based on Supreme C’s track of the same name (1992). The finishing touch was sampling The Main Ingredient’s “Over You” (1975) that gave “Mad Props” its’ heart and soul. Thank K-Def for this one, who also worked with Heavy D & The Boyz, Lordz Of The Underground, Intelligent Hoodlum, Marley Marl, Ghostface Killah, Sean Combs, El Da Sensei, and many more.

Lords Of The Underground ft. Keith Murray | What I’m After (K-Def Remix) | 1995

K-Def’s remixed version of Lords Of The Underground’s “What I’m After”, which was the second single from their second album, “Keepers Of The Funk” and that K-Def himself had already produced. As the original version contained a sample from Redman’s “Tonight’s Da Night”, the remix features new lyrics from second Def Squad affiliate Keith Murray.
