I am currently working through The Magnus Archives and was wondering what the opposite to each of the fear would be. This is my proposed list:
The Buried: The Liberated (freedom from financial issues, walk-able cities, above-ground transport, freedom to leave)
The Corruption: The Strengthened (preventing decay and rot (not actively fighting it), setting broken bones, vaccines, maintenance of anything: cars, buildings, bodies, etc.)
The Dark: The Light (the light from fire, the light from houses, light that speaks to human habitation) (The City on the Hilltop)
The Desolation: The Creation (creating anything, especially with your hands) (nature preservation and conservation)
The End: The Beginning (birth, rebirth, saving life)
The Eye: The Ambivalence (not caring what others think, YKINMK, live and let live, not caring what others do)
The Flesh: The Machine (machines, especially ones used for creating: sewing machines, looms, spinning wheels, combs, etc.) (knowing that humans are capable of things other animals aren't.) (humanity is a healed femur)
The Hunt: The Guide (helping travelers, maps, park rangers)
The Lonely: The Community (caring about people and knowing they care about you) (knowing everyone when you walk into a place, greeting people when you see them, maintaining regular contact with the people you care about)
The Slaughter: The Savior (radical kindness, caring for everyone, goodness for goodness's sake)
The Spiral: The Truth (truth, even if it hurts, plain language and straightforward communication)
The Stranger: The Home (familiarity, knowing things are as they seem, sincerity)
The Vast: The Minute (studying micro organisms and things smaller than humans, showing that humans are huge)
The Web: The Choice (knowing that one's actions are of their own free will) (defying orders)
The Extinction: The Salvation (changing the world in a way that preserves life) (conservation efforts, anti-discriminatory practices, etc.)
