I'm beginning to wish I were that friend of yours.
It's difficult to pinpoint when things went wrong. Where everything he ever worked for came crashing down on him. Maybe it was the choices he made up until this point or when he stepped out of that portal, but right now, he wasn't doing well. Hell wasn't as easy as he thought it was. Going around claiming you're here to hunt them down just doesn't fly when everyone around you can't die like you can. It leaves room for nasty interactions that leave you scraping yourself off the pavement. Dragging your body away to someplace safe and well, you end up in a place that many would consider worse than outside. He doesn't know what happened after he pushed through those doors. It was nothing but darkness for a while, then suddenly light. At first, he believed he had died, but then he came to in a room he was unfamiliar with. Loads of pinks, golds, and other heart-related things. That's really what caught his attention at first, until he sat up and winced at the pain. Looking down to find he'd been bandaged up from his injuries. Someone actually helped him? Why not let him die? So many questions, but who will answer? Not long into his inspection, he would find that someone, but they weren't of flesh and blood. In fact, they'd been staring at him this entire time to the point he damn near jumped when a voice came through. Feminine, cutesy-sounding, but metallic. A twinge to showcase what they she really was. A demonic robot.
One wasn't certain how to proceed, but she seemed to fill in the blanks. That's how it started. Kitty tells him all he needed to know and how he ended up here, who ran the place, where he was, just about all he wanted to know. Yet time moves on, and things escalate. Fluctuation with such precision, there was no time for him to take a breath. He should be dead tenfold by now. Yet he remains alive within the confines of the tower as his fate lies in the Vees' hands. The whole thing leaves him feeling uncertain and out of place. Like a prisoner rather than a guest, and it's Kitty's presence that makes it bearable, yet despite all that she shares with him, he does little to do so himself. She wasn't like Two. He doubts anyone could be with how much time he's spent with her, poured his heart out to, and cried with. It was easier to hide the tears than to let go, but eventually she catches him. One-Joey accepts the comfort, the physicality of something he needed, but words barely leave him. He's holding onto her form, sobbing, and eventually she tells him something unexpected. Had she really wanted that? It doesn't take long for him to confess. "You already are."
