they certainly weren’t thinking about adoption. kids were the last thing on their mind. Being wife to the chancellor of the Ark was hard enough especially on the ground and Abby didn’t want the extra responsibility yet. Not just yet. She also wanted to talk with Clarke about it first before she ever went through with it.

Indra and Nyko come to Kane and Abby for a conference one evening. There was an abandoned child on the road on their way back to their village and they were wondering if there was a family willing to care for the young.

Kane and Abby looked at each other and for some reason at that moment, even though they never talked of it, they knew that it was time. Time to start a family of their own and to stop always looking out for everyone else’s families.

They tell Indra and Nyko that they will care for the child.

After they leave Kane starts pacing the room because it doesn’t hit him till after they agree to raise the young that he has no idea how to be a father.

“You do too know how to be a father,” Abby says finally after listening to him muttering and pacing for more than hour. “You’ve been a father for the past few years since we landed on the ground.”
