Kaboos (کابوس)
It means ‘nightmare’ and it sounds really cool. Interestingly, it’s derived from the latin word ‘incubus’. In Persian folklore, it is believed that if you sleep prone on your back, you risk having an incubus drap itself all over your body and strangle you (a mythological explanation for sleep paralysis).
An incubus in Persian is called ‘bakhtak’ (بختک). You can say ‘bakhtak room oftade’ to mean literally ‘an incubus has fallen on top of me’ or figuratively ‘i’m going through some misfortunes’.
