It is genuinely shocking to me how shippy WanDurin is in canon and how the fandom just blatantly ignores it. Like, we have:

-Damsel in Distress (Durin) saved by the Hero (Wanderer) this is LITERALLY a fairytale romance staple??? HELLO??? They're a hop and a kiss away from being Married and Happily Ever After my GOD -Wanderer being so thoughtful and kind towards Durin when he was suffering my god I cry every time I rewatch that cutscene -Parallels of trauma and pain that makes Wanderer and Durin understand one another in a way no one else can -Durin's story in Simulanka changed Wanderer's demeanor from bitter and pessimistic to loving fairy tales and having the desire to play the part of the "hero" again, and having him indulge in a "hobby" (reading) when he previously hated the idea of having a hobby (you can read his previous thoughts in his voice lines) and overall healing a part of Wanderer's soul that was otherwise shattered and broken -Wanderer's "You're not alone in this world, Durin. At the very least... you have me" line during Durin's story quest -Wanderer's "If I'm ruining your ability to be in this world then I will remove myself from you so you can live happily even at my own suffering" self-sacrificial sentiment also from Durin's story quest -Durin looking for and buying himself and Wanderer fairytales to read -Durin is NOT afraid to drag Wanderer off to do something fun and Wanderer lets him drag him along -Durin just, in general, mentioning Wanderer so often like he cannot stop thinking about Wanderer for more than 5 minutes apparently -Wanderer is equally guilty of this and new content with him has him often mentioning Durin -Durin encouraging Wanderer to celebrate his birthday when the Nod-Krai crisis was going on, and he acknowledges that Durin is trying to help him change his mindset, and he tries to do actually change his perspective on it for Durin's sake - The god damn "Home" short where Durin and Wanderer are shown "at home" with each other out in the wilderness, practically hand in hand -They made Durin's birthday WHITE DAY (Japanese/Chinese Valentines Day Part 2) and ONLY showed Wanderer in his birthday art giving Durin a Gift Like I'm sorry I don't know how clearer you can get.

Like this level of ship fodder feels insane for the fact that it's such a rare pair. It makes ME feel insane. Like--

I feel like THIS every time I post about WanDurin and my ever growing theory that if not for censorship, they WOULD be a canon couple. Like come on there's SO MUCH FODDER--

EDIT: Before anyone else goes and claims Durin is a child, NO HE IS NOT. Here is an extensive analysis of how he cannot be legally (by Chinese Law) be depicted as a minor, as well as a full narrative analysis showcasing how the writers wrote Durin with every intention of being an adult!

I can't believe I can't even talk about WanDurin ship fodder without making this disclaimer. I shouldn't HAVE to. This shouldn't be a problem I have to face!

I wholeheartedly believe that in WanDurin/DurinWan, Durin would be the possessive one. HEAR ME OUT ON THIS CHAT: Durin is a dragon from a fairytale. You know what's a very common trait in fantasy dragons? They hoard treasures. Wanderer is Durin's treasure, so Durin "hoards" him.

I think it doesn't really show up much though, not only because Wanderer doesn't really bother engaging with the public outside of the four people he cares about, but also because he himself has crippling attachment/abandonment issues and if they ever establish this relationship and he calms his self sacrificing ass down he will become physically incapable of leaving Durin's side for more than five minutes.

a popular genshin creator got bullied off twitter for including durinscara in one of their posts. something something pedo, problematic, incest and all that jazz. like how can one character be this controversial omfg.

on the bright side, so many people came forward to support little red hood. their two latest posts have next to no hate comments but a whooole lot of love. so hopefully they come back. :)

my opinion (and hc), that's actually very popular, is that I see him as a minor. like did we forget he was a baby dragon not too long ago?? he also acts more like a child than anything, and he's literally wanderer's son???

i also currently only write for scara (bcuz thats what my hyperfixation is set on), but i'd like to explore other characters.

if i ever, on any occasion write about durin in my fics, it would be fluff, (or angst...) with possibly wanderer x reader or a diff trope, but never EVER reader x durin.

(i see ppl ship durin x scara and tbh that pmo more than dottore x scara ever could)
