Destiel Quote Christmas Countdown - #15 “What? I like past you.” 5x04
kill meee
I don’t think even one member of the Destiel fandom could in any way be convinced that these dorks weren’t canon in Endverse.
Destiel Quote Christmas Countdown - #16 “It’s been a long time since I’ve laughed that hard. It’s been more than a long time. Years.” 5x03
I feel like this quote explains itself pretty well... but because it’s making me grin uncontrollably right now I’ll elaborate.
Dean and Sam are a great team, they are, but having the kind of sibling relationship they have would be exhausting for anyone. The Winchesters have been through a lot of shit, and they seriously don’t ever catch a break. That’s why this scene (the whole episode, really) is so refreshing. These two dorks are a miracle. Look how lightened up Dean is right here. I seriously believe Cas saved him that day, because, more than anything, Dean needed a friend to just hang out with. It’s not hard to picture what kind of state Dean would be in if he had never met Cas-- if, for instance, Uriel raised him from perdition and Cas was never in the picture at all. No other angel would ever have bothered with Dean, no other angel would be the same, and Dean would never have gotten this.
Destiel Quote Christmas Countdown - #17 “Cas. We’ve talked about this. Personal space?” 5x03
jesus christ, just fuck already
This quote is so ridiculous. IT WAS NOT NECESSARY TO LOOK RIGHT AT HIS LIPS. It isn’t even subtext tbh... Dean is literally staring at Cas’s mouth... and he could easily have just moved back. It’s really not that hard. Just a step back, Dean. Remember how to move your feet?
The poor guy is completely frozen in his tracks. You know what? Let me paint this scene as it would have gone had they not really wanted to have a make-out session: the straight pals version. Dean turns around, and sees that Cas is very close to him. He laughs and says something like, “Woah! Sorry, man.” and then backs up, probably still laughing. Cas gives a small smile and says something like, “Oh, I forgot our personal space conversation. Lol.” See the difference? See the source of my frustration?
This happened 6 seasons ago. SIX. Now it’s season 84 and all that’s changed is they’re several years older and they stare even longer (although, now it’s more like “I’m so fucking in love with you” and less like “wow, I really want to jump his bones, that’s a little odd for me”). This quote is completely, utterly, absolutely ridiculous. I love it so much.
Destiel Quote Christmas Countdown - #18 “I always come when you call.” 6x21
This is the break-up scene to end all break-up scenes. They both look so unbelievably broken (all thanks to Misha and Jensen’s acting), and you can read every single emotion passing through them with each line they speak. Cas, in desperation, moves from logical arguments (”Shouldn’t trust go both ways?”) to pleading, while Dean becomes more and more torn between his heart and his gut. This quote stands out, though, because... well, it’s an outright confession of devotion. With one sentence, the angel Castiel becomes Cas, and Dean (along with the viewers) gets hit hard by a reminder that this is his best friend in the world, the most loyal person he’s ever had the privilege of knowing and loving. It doesn’t make sense for them to be on opposite sides. It doesn’t feel right. Dean, however, puts his principles first, and Cas, he feels, is breaking them. So, as much as it might hurt, Dean can hold it down, for the sake of the righteousness he is destined to act with. Plus, they’re both so irritatingly stubborn and it’s kind of the cutest.
Destiel Quote Christmas Countdown - #23 “Talk to me.” 8x08
There’s something I really love about Dean initiating the “chick-flick moments” he claims he hates. I think he had realized long before that 1) there’s no part of him he has to hide from Cas, and 2) he never has to try to impress him (it’s probably also occurred to him that this is the only person he would ever do this with on the entire planet). There’s no need for Dean to act macho or fit some sort of reputation he has built for himself because there’s just no point here. Without any hesitation or second thought, he drops everything and goes over to ask Cas about his feelings because he’s already accepted that the relationship between the two of them is different than any he has ever had (or will ever have). And don’t get me started on how simple it was for him– “Talk to me.”
