Kaemoque 1, 11, 15, 18, 25, 31, 37, 41?
1. How do they move and carry themselves? Pace, rhythm, gestures, energy?
Kaemoque carries himself in a very relaxed way. He has the postural equivalent of jazzy background musis. He is, like, the opposite of relaxed internally, but he walks like his bones are made of cooked noodles.
11. How are they vocally expressive? What kind of voice, accent, tones, inflections, volume, phrases and slang, and manner of speaking do they use?
In my headcanon, the dark eldar have very noticeable dialectal stratification, and you can tell someone’s social class by their accent very easily. Kaemoque sounds like a Kabalite aspirant; ie trying to sound Kabalite but failing. He just doesn’t quite get the lingo right. (And he also hasn’t stopped now that he’s part of a pirate crew.) He is also very informal in his speaking.
(A modern human version of him would probably sound like someone trying to be Hip With the Teen Lingo, with a sprinkling of vocative ‘like’s and those weird tumblr threats like ‘I will reap the teeth god sewed in your foolish mouth.’)
15. What kind of inner life do they have — rich and imaginative? Calculating and practical? Full of doubts and fears? Does it find any sort of outlet in their lives?
He is pretty anxious all the time. He tries not to make it obvious, but his most common mental state is low key panic. Being a psyker, and having to deal with trying not to get possessed, while being in a culture where being a psyker is A Bad Idea leads to that. He also spends a lot of mental energy trying to cover for the constant fear, Because Vulnerability is Death.
He really should get an outlet.
18. What kind of person could they become in the future? What are some developmental paths that they could take, (best, worst, most likely?) what would cause them to come to pass, and what consequences might they have? What paths would you especially like to see, and why?
It is inevitable that the holding pattern of ‘Kaemoque learns just enough about being a psyker from Jas that he doesn’t explode’ won’t hold forever. It’s not sustainable.
The worst development path is that Kae actually explodes. Most likely cause: There is a situation where Jas chooses his principles over Kaemoque, Kaemoque takes this as the worst betrayal ever, and breaks up with him. He refuses to let Jas teach him anymore. ...and inevitably gets possessed and/or exploded.
The best path is that Kaemoque realises the holding pattern will crumble, and he needs to got to a Craftworld to teach him. Jas has got to the point where he can deal with the pity, and goes with him. And it works out well-- both in the sense that Jas reunites with his family and Kaemoque survives, and in the sense that they ended up happier people. In a safer environment, they get to develop more. They can both start untangling the defensive mechanisms that don’t work outside Commoragh. Kaemoque has levels of trust in between 0% and 100%. He has acquaintances. He gets to be happy.
25. What do they need and want out of relationships, and how do they go about getting it?
He wants a sense of safety and trust, knowing that this person will stick their neck out for him no matter the cost, that he can be vulnerable without being manipulated, that he can relax a little bit.
He goes about getting this by finding the most likely person to give him it... and then not communicating his needs. It’s a problem.
[I’m not quite sure how to answer 31.]
37. Have they had any special education or training that colors their means of learning about or understanding the world? Conversely, do they lack some kind of education considered essential in their world? What kind of impact has this addition or lack had on them?
Kaemoque hasn’t had any official, organised training re: his psychic powers. Most of it is self taught kludge, and the rest is whatever Jas can explain and remember from his training. This means Kae basically one misstep away from an emergency all the time, and he doesn’t have a very good idea of what’s normal for a psyker.
(There’s been a few times when Jas has walked into a room, and noticed everything floating a centimetre above where it should, and been horrified to find out that Kae thinks this is the normal side effect of a headache.)
41. What associations do they bring to mind? Words or phrases, images, metaphors or motifs? Why?
For me, the biggest motif with him is ‘black with a white stripe’. Mostly because of his hair.
