I find it interesting that Kafka never actually stays in TB’s contacts.

I mean yes, she texts them. But it’s always an ‘Anonymous’

It’s not so that nobody finds a Stellaron Hunter in their contacts. Blade, Firefly, Silver Wolf, all three are there.

It’s only Kafka who isnt properly in their contacts.

Trailblazer cant contact her, only she can contact them.

Kafka has curated a relationship that is basically a dance. Its not really push and pull, but its.. paradoxically distant and close. She’s a puzzle she wants them to figure out.

Kafka is the one curating this. Its not really clear whether Elio requires this of her. It’s likely, but also it’s fairly likely that she’s not required to be as distant as she is.

I’d say it probably isnt. Yes, the distance is required, but is it really necessary for them to be wholly unable to even just send her a picture?

And I do think the distance she herself has curated is affecting her. I mean. The information we’ve gotten on her is really only supporting her pulling more and more away from the hunters and into herself. Silver Wolf doesnt even know what she does off-mission anymore.

I imagine Blade’s new voiceline about her will probably also support that.

They really are just building to something with her in 5.x. I really hope she ends up breaking script. It’d be interesting because she is absolutely the one who follows them most meticulously, and believes the least in having free will of her own.

Something I find so gentle and sweet and tragic and some could say romantic (yes that was a pun) is that the animated short of the TB helping Cyrene through the loops, probably mirrors how Cyrene saw the TB’s memories.

That sort of “I know everything that you’re going through, I’m going through it too, but I can’t help you, but I desperately crave to”.

The love they feel for them at their highest moments

The jealousy they feel at so many people, many similar to her, but also many different, being able to interact so closely to the TB

The fear they feel in their most vulnerable moments

The piercing desire to help followed by the deranged anger at the reminder that she can’t

If Phainon can learn to feel so much love, let Cyrene feel some negative stuff too!

Have her genuinely hate Cocolia for killing the TB and messing with Belabog

Have her hold a slight grudge over Sunday for nearly locking everyone in a dream

Have her feel a raging fire against the anti matter legion for all they do

Have her feel guilty for wanting to take one of the places of someone else around the TB, even some of the Chrysos heirs

Have her grow tired of the Aeons, and have her desperately wanting to avoid ascending to Fuli, even if it means going against the Paths themselves

Cyrene deserved her Phainon-level crashout but i get why she didnt have one.

I do believe she does resent the Aeons, in the same way that the Heirs resent the Titans.

While Phainon’s negative emotions manifest as hate, Cyrene’s do as mourning. She is lament, after all.

Unfortunately, she did kind of learn a very specific bad habit from the Trailblazer. Specifically, the whole ‘push everything down and be okay because i gotta lock in’ habit. She generally doesnt consider her own suffering equal to that of the heirs. So she puts on the air of being totally fine, being that cute pink girl.

The Trailblazer is kinda the one person where she can just.. drop that. Where she can show how afraid and hurt and angry she is, despite not wanting to feel those emotions.

And we kinda do see Cyrene jealous, it just doesnt really manifest as aggressively as with others. It is, at its core, a mournful type of jealousy. Basically her trailer was her wishing she was able to be with the Trailblazer and Astral Express, apart of their story, and wholly self-inserting into the Trailblazer’s memories.

Cyrene’s hatred manifests as sorrow, and she actively uses it, just as Phainon uses his rage. Both also idolize the Trailblazer and so both play the ‘time to bottle everything up!’ Game..

Ngl I think Cyrene would honestly do well meeting the Stellaron Hunters. Or at least Kafka. Would be the most dangerous combo probably. The amount of love for the Trailblazer shared between them would probably breach into dangerous levels..

Cyrene probably would actually get on pretty well with Kafka. Damnit. Now thats a pairing I want to see… im a blight upon myself..

Ur so right about Kafka’s voice, even in Amphoreus her flashback sounds so alive! If SW is trying not to gaf, Kafka is WAITING for her chance to gaf.

Lowk i think BOTH were/are waiting. Silver Wolf Lv.999 has basically entirely abandoned the idgaf thing.

Like. Showing up in person on the Express now, and talking about a Fluffy gacha game where she’s intent on collecting all Raccoon (Trailblazer) variants, and even adding a Stellaron Hunter variant for a full Raccoon battleship (that cannot possibly be meta). Literally texting TB like “hey, yk that show you wanted to go to? I snagged you a ticket (you just gotta pay)” and then proceeding to set up several dozen more (even for things that arent selling yet!) without TB even asking. Literally calling Trailblazer her best friend multiple times over and visibly having a great time pulling off an infiltration mission with them (and tingyun) in the post-mq side quest…

Silver Wolf Lv.999 unlocked the skill “Being normal about someone she cares about!” and then it promptly started to overload because no, no she actually cant be normal.

As for Kafka?

She is sitting ‘patiently’ for her turn to properly spend time with Trailblazer again. She will not be normal when she gets the chance. She is physically incapable of it. I mean ffs. On the Luofu, when Trailblazer was tracking her down, she left behind a love poem and a lipstick grenade. She made a joke about Trailblazer knowing about her spirit whisper (specifically how it feels to be on the receiving end).

Kafka considers herself patient, and she certainly is. But not everyone has the same level of patience as the AE trio (amphoreus edition). And honestly, i really do think her patience is straining.

You can only bring up the whole “intertwined fate, each other’s destiny” thing so many times before it starts to sound like something your using as a self-assurance. Kafka has the least freedom out of all of the Hunters (beyond maybe Elio & in a way Trailblazer) and a largen part of that is restraining her from seeing the Trailblazer.

Kafka doesnt fully believe that fate is undecided for herself. She does believe the Trailblazer’s fate is their own, but hers is determined.

All things considered, i’d argue that a major part of what’s holding her back is that. And another part? She doesnt want to become a devil. “How do we know that for sure-“ the woman was literally a devil hunter before a stellaron hunter, and the occupation was just as illegal as her current. Arguably, technically, more illegal. The methods used as a Stellaron Hunter are certainly unlawful, but theres sure as hell nothing illegal about collection stellarons and trying to save the universe. But Devil Hunting? That was illegal as hell on Pteruges-V. And Kafka was one.

She doesnt want to become a devil. She restrains herself from chasing and falling prey to her desire, even if its lowk fucking killing her. (I imagine that Kafka & Trailblazer were at least a littleee codependent pre-amnesia, i mean like everything we know has alluded to it.)

With the rate the stories going though? Honestly.. i’d imagine that she will break. Especially if she doesnt get a chance to see them soon according to the script. (For someone who so clearly relies on the script to honestly an emotional crutch level, the fact that there was none assuring her the Blade, Silver Wolf and Trailblazer were guaranteed to come out the other side okay, she had to be lowk tweaking a little bit in penacony. The woman whose whole thing is not telling TB too much literally broke orders to agree that TB should be told of that.)

If any of the other Hunters are our ride-along again before her on the next planet, I do expect her to break tbh.

The interesting thing, would be whether or not it was according to Elio’s script. If it is- then her fate really is pre-determined after all, isnt it? If it isnt, then she could have chosen this all along, and she was what held her back.

And honestly if she goes devil, i’d imagine Trailblazer would manage to fix it somehow and we’d get our Kafka SP.

(I also would expect Elio to have some backup things in case Kafka snaps and its not scripted lol. Whether or not it was meant to happen, its certainly a possibility he has had to consider, just like the other possibilities of the Express’ next destination after Penacony. Kafka’s patience snapping would absolutely probably fuck up his plans, but i dont think it’d be as game over as anything we saw in Exotale 8)

Theres more to Kafka’s desire to feel fear/change herself than we’re aware of, clearly.

Its not as if Kafka cant feel emotions. We’ve seen her show them before. Hell, anytime we see Kafka interact with the Hunters, and especially Trailblazer it is so overwhelmingly blatant that she cares, and a lot.

However, Kafka also described herself as having a ‘empty space in my mind and my heart’. And her emotions have always been more subdued, more controlled.

And with the Pteruges-V peoples habit of turning to devils..

Im wondering, if while Kafka can feel emotions, they arent whole. That they are broken. Hence why Blade said its time for him to aid Kafka in her goal.. he reforged himself from being a shattered blade, now it’s Kafka’s turn to be whole.

I imagine that what Kafka is searching for, would be akin to something all people from her homeland are missing. No, not a genuine physical thing, but something more metaphysical.

There is also, of course, the Trailblazer. Who already has the allegorical relation to hearts, and particularly missing pieces of it. For example, the Stellaron. Or, the fact that the Trailblazer is the ‘hero within’ that Cyrene and Phainon carved/held as a piece of them.

And of course, Trailblazer has already been stated to be someone who will change Kafka. They’re each others destinies.

I dont believe that it’s exactly the Trailblazer specifically that Kafka is seeking. But the ‘heart’ that she seeks, it will be related to Trailblazer. Theres a good chance that Kafka doesnt know what it is she’s searching for, only that it’s a ‘heart’ according to Elio.

I dont think she’s genuinely missing her heart, nor her emotions. Again, we’ve seen her display them before.

But there is something missing, and whether thats metaphysical, physical or psychological.. i suppose we’ll have to wait and see.

Mmmm.. but what if Kafka has gotten significantly more nihility since dropping off Trailblazer with the Express. What if she doesnt go to that one planet with the beaches anymore. Or buy new coats, or go shopping in general. What if she just stopped doing things she enjoyed. What if she stopped sleeping as much.

And what if its because Trailblazer wasnt around anymore? No more Trailblazer to faceplant into the ocean tide, no more Trailblazer to bring her new shiny things when shopping like an overexcited puppy, no more Trailblazer to play piano/violin alongside Kafka's violin, or even just sit and listen to her music, no more Trailblazer to snuggle into her chest in their shared bed despite being bigger.

Theres no one's words to distract her from the screams she causes so music fills her mind (the duets they've played together, specifically) no one to point things out in a script to her, so she just follows along without a second thought past reading through it.

And the worst thing is she wouldnt even notice. The other Hunters do. Of course they would, they're family after all. But how could they possibly point out how much she's slipping towards nihility, when the very person that can pull her from it is out of her reach? She wouldnt notice, because the person who would point it out is gone- no, not even gone, they just arent hers anymore. Their no longer a Stellaron Hunter, no longer her closest companion. No longer the sword at her back.

No they guard another's back now, they lay in another's bed. They do all the things they used to do with her with other people. And she cant see them as much as the other Hunters can, they may be each others destiny, but that destiny is one yet to come, and till then, the script so cruelly keeps them apart but for the scarcest moments, that they arent even allowed to fully trust to be real.

And Kafka can feel every emotion except fear, but emotions are a tricky thing, and the loss of one will effect all the rest, and how would she truly know what loss or grief truly feel like?

What if Kafka's wish has already been fulfilled? What if she already has felt what fear feels like? But not the sharp fear when something jumps out at you, when you worry you're about to die. Its the slow, creeping fear that pervades your very soul, the fear that you have lost something, and you might never get it back?
