Protect Me
We were both orphans living in the orphanage. The kids both at school and the orphanage would often pick at me for being weird and strange due to sensory issues.
But Kakucho never did. Instead, he stayed with me and drove the other kids away when they tried getting close with the help of Kurokawa Izana.
"I'll protect you."
The first words Kakucho said to me after finding me hiding under a slide to avoid the other children in the back courtyard of the orphanage.
At the time, Kakucho's hands were warm and soft. As we grew older, Kakucho's hands grew rougher and rougher from fighting.
I was 13 and Kakucho was 14 when we started to date. By then, Izana had gone to jail as did most of the Black Dragons members much to my and Kakucho's sadness.
It was when Kakucho joined Tenjiku that I was concerned about both Izana and Kakucho.
"I...I have to save him, Gene."
As I grew older, I started to realize there was something wrong with Izana and I'm certain Kakucho caught on too. That's why Kakucho is so intent on saving Izana.
And after Izana's death, Kakucho was devastated. Even so, Kakucho did his best to protect and provide for both of us.
It was until his fight against Terrano South I saw Kakucho cry for the first time.
"I couldn't protect Izana...but I'll protect you. I swear it."
