Ok ok ok well the way I imagined it tbh is that I think Kage would be so enamored with his in-game self? Like? He's this smart, reliable, gentle detective, both everything he's not and everything he's ever wanted to be. They look alike, but apart from that, they're pretty much entirely their own people. If they met, I think Kagehara would just be having the biggest fanboy moment. A detective and a protagonist. How did he get so cool? He'd have absolutely no sense of personal space, he'd be hanging all over him, poking him everywhere, just being like, "What? Pfft, it's my own body..." And it does kind of freak Shuichi out at first, but he gets used to it. I'm sure they'd have a million questions to ask each other, both trying to get a sense of just how different they are, and where they're similar. Shuichi would want to know why Kage signed up for Danganronpa, what possibly made him feel so hopeless that he'd want to throw away his whole life like that. He doesn't like to admit it, but he can see where he's coming from. Kagehara talks about anxiety, and depression, and certain coping mechanisms, and this deep desire to become something-- someone better than he was, "and you, Shuichi Saihara, are that someone. You're so... good, in a way that I never could be." But he can be. He has the potential to. And Shuichi, who is the living proof of that potential, somehow always knows all the right things to say, because he knows how his own mind works. He offers comfort and understanding, he helps him learn better coping mechanisms, tries to help him heal. Also, Kage is just a chaotic shit, this little devil on Shuichi's shoulder, trying to convince him to do bad things, whining about how Saihara is such a little goody two shoes now, and he's no fun, and Shuichi is constantly trying to reel him in and keep him out of trouble, and dear god, this guy is going to give him a heart attack any day now. I don't know how serious I am about actually shipping them romantically or anything but it's definitely a fun dynamic lol.
