Nurse Me: I’ll write a drabble about my character healing yours.
The sound of cannons going off outside was deafening, so Liesl, who had her back turned to the door as she rummaged frantically for more ammo, did not notice Kai entering the garrison house. When she turned, holding two heavy cannonballs with both arms, the sight of him covered in blood almost made her drop her cargo.
"Kai!" She set the cannonballs on the ground; they rolled aside halfheartedly, but she was no longer paying any mind to them. She rushed to his side, brushing his hair aside to take a better look at his wound. This proved to be a difficult task, as the height difference between them didn’t work in her favor. "For goodness’ sake, Kai, sit down and let me have a look!"
"Don’t worry, it’s superficial," her comrade from the Guard reassured her with a smile, although his face was drained of all colour. "They only sent me here so I wouldn’t get in the way. I’m fine, really-"
"Be quiet, please." Liesl held up a hand, cutting him off. She was already unrolling bandages from the first-aid kit and using them to soak up the blood a bit. "I’m not a medic, but I know any wounds to the head are to be taken seriously."
Her eyes darted across the wounded section of his scalp; she was reassured to find that there was no shrapnel stuck in his flesh. Whatever had caused the injury, it must have simply grazed his head. Her chest deflated in a sigh of relief, and only then she realized she’d been holding her breath. “Consider yourself lucky,” she told him, but she insisted on wrapping the bandages across his head all the same. Better safe than sorry.
"Please stay here." It was more of an order than a request. "You’ll only expose yourself or other soldiers to danger if you go out there in this state." As she picked up the cannonballs once again, she realized she’d feel very lonely if she lost one of her few friends in the Stationary Guards.
