8. Eyelids

[[ AU maybe? ;u; ]]

Trevor found his way into the bed that he shared with the cute brunette, and slipped under the blankets as quietly as possible. Salma was asleep, or at least appeared to be, as he edged closer to her. He placed a soft kiss on her close eyelids, and then an extra one to the tip of her nose to try and excuse himself for being out so late.

omg such cute though—)) Feeling soft kisses on her eyelids, she knew who was home, but pretended to be fast asleep. It wasn’t until she felt one on the tip of her nose that she giggled and wiggled her nose. Opening one eye she smiled sleepily at the loving intruder. "Welcome home," she said softly, kissing Trevor’s nose back.

[[ ;u; Sorry for this being so late.. I was really busy with school work. ]]

Trevor smiled sheepishly at the soft giggles coming from the brunette with his cheek resting on the palm of his hand. “Sorry for being so late, sweetie..” His voice came out as a soft murmur as he bowed he watched her blink in a tired fashion. Man, she was too adorable when she was tired, and he couldn’t help but marvel at the girl laying beside him.

((Shh it’s okay! c: Besides, school comes first! ^^ )) "You came home, that’s all that matters…" Salma whispered, pulling him closer to her, peppering Trevor with sleepy kisses. "How was work?" she asked, burying her face into his neck.

[[ Yeah, thanks for understanding! ]]

Trevor gave her a tired grin at the gentle feeling of her lips against his skin. He shifted until he was laying down beside her while sneaking his arm around her waist. “It was a little hectic, since someone decided to right down an extra digit and threw everything off…” he murmured softly as he kissed the top of her head before burying his cheek in her hair.

((It’s not a problem,really ^^ )) "What dummies…" she mumbled. "I don’t think it’s fair that you have to fix things always.." she sighed, scooting closer to Trevor, her hands resting on his chest. "Sometimes I think your boss takes advantage of your skills.." she pouted.

"I don’t really mind too much, at least the job is done right.." He spoke softly as Salma made her way closer to him. Trevor perked an eyebrow at the statement, although he couldn’t deny the thought. Of course his boss took advantage of the blond, considering that he was one of the youngest guys working. "Yeah, I think so too, but… it’s not too bad. Just when he makes me stay overtime ‘cause I can’t be here with you.."

"Well I don’t mind much, just as long as you come home.." she nuzzled him. "That’s all that really matters~"

12. Old scars

Nat lifted his arm, noticing a scar that was on his forearm. She giggled, placing her lips lightly against his skin. “Aww. What happened here, my dear?”

Trevor glanced down to the brunette, wondering what she was doing with his arm until feeling a soft kiss on his forearm. With a soft blush dusting his cheeks, he said, “I think this was a, um, trainee scar.. we fooled around with our gear a lot..”

"Hahaha, you silly." Natalia rolled up her sleeve, showing off a scar she had on her own arm. "That was from my best friend Avery. We met when she accidentally rammed into me when we were working with our gear. She was too excited and kinda went crazy with it. So I totally get what you mean." She giggled. "Trainee days were so much easier, huh?"

Trevor chuckled, tilting his head as he studied the scar that ran along her skin. “At least she hit your arm, eh?” He moved to fold his arms up over his chest while nodding his head. “Much easier.. safer, too.”

She nodded, letting out a little sigh. “Yeah. Such simple times…” Nat scratched at her cheek, giving a nervous laugh. “Hey, maybe one day, things can be easy again. Where we won’t have to sacrifice our lives and live in fear….but rather we can just…enjoy life.” She gave a bright smile. “Big dreams, right?”

Trevor shuffled his feet, unable to stay still for the time being as he tilted his head to the side at her reaction. "It's better to dream big than to let the world beat you, right?" He said with a gentle smile playing across his face. The idea of peace, where everyone could life without fear of dying within each step they take, is something he believed was worth dying for. "We'll just have to do a lot of work, but I believe that we can get to that point."

Nat wrapped her scarf tighter around her neck, trying to make sure the cold air didn't seep in. She muttered under her breath, tired of it being so chilly. She had her head tilted down, trying to break through the wind, so she didn't see when she bumped into someone. "Ah! Sorry..." She looked up, only to see Trevor before her. "Oh hey, Trevor! Been a while since I've seen you~"

The blond had made sure to dress warm, as he has more experience in the cold than he hoped. The wind was nipping at his cheeks and nose, causing him to pull the grey scarf over his nose in an attempt to regain body heat. During that brief amount of time focusing on the scarf, he felt someone walk right into him. Trevor took a small step back, partially surprised at the encounter as he quickly said an apology before he began to recognize the girl. “H-hey, Nat! It’s nice to see y-you again.” He gave a small grin, pulling the scarf down to talk properly. “How have you been?”

Nat retracted her hand, lacing them before her. She looked down at her fingers, playing with them. She was still embarrassed from rambling so much, made obvious by the blush against her cheeks. “Ah well….since I keep talking of mine, is there anyone special in your life?” She looked expectantly up at him. “I’m sure there’s someone who’s caught your eye, right?”

Trevor paused as she asked if there was anyone special in his life, and a soft blush appeared on his own cheeks for once. “Well, uh, I, um..” His voice came out in mumbles as he tried to lace his sentences together while rubbing at his cheek with one hand subconsciously, as if to wipe away at the darkening blush. “T-there’s this one girl that I d-do like.. she’s, um, from my squad..”

"Oh really?" Nat giggled. It was funny to see Trevor change his demeanor so fast. But she guessed that’s what love did to a person. It was just interesting to see it happen on someone else. "So how did she win you over? You don’t look like one to just be easily swayed with the batting an eyelash."

Trevor realized that he must look like a fool, so he placed his hands in his lap while lacing his fingers together in order to keep from moving around. “S-she didn’t win me over.. it just k-kinda happened?” He thought of a way to explain exactly what happened, but there wasn’t some fantastic story about how they met or how he couldn’t stop thinking about her. “We’re, well, b-best friends. One t-thing just led to another..”

Nat’s face brightened. Oh how she just loved hearing of relationships. It was like someone was reciting a story from a book to her. It always seemed so…magical. “That sounds so sweet, Trevor~” She giggled. “Is it strange waking up one day, realizing that your feelings were not the same as before?” She wanted to know, as that was sorta how she felt with Herbert.

Trevor thought over his answer for a second, finally managing to calm down a little. “Well, yes.. but it’s nice in a way.” He tilted his head to the side, dwelling on how to explain. “I mean, the idea that there’s someone so close to you in times like this is amazing. I couldn’t ask for more, and the fact that she’s my best friend makes it even better.”

"Oh I bet~" Nat giggled. She started to rock in her seat, looking up toward the ceiling. "You know, I kinda had a crush on my best friend. Didn’t last long, especially considering he was already with someone. But I had the brief thought about how we’d be as a couple. And I loved the idea of it. We were already each other’s confidants, we were so comfortable with each other. We had so much in common! I felt like it would be a perfect fit. I mean, your significant other should be like your best friend, right?" She shook her head. "I couldn’t make that happen but I’m glad you did~"

The blond listened closely, paying attention to each word as she spoke about her best friend. “Oui, exactly.” Trevor leaned forwards slightly in thought. “Thanks, Nat.” He paused with a small grin as he glanced from the wood sill that shone softly in the light, before back up to Natalia. “I’ve, um, been planning to ask her to go out with me, but… I don’t exactly know how to do so…?”

Nat’s mouth made a little ‘o’ shape, her eyes growing wide with his inquiry. “Ooh. Since she’s your friend, you already have the in to see her. You just need to get the courage to ask. Make sure she’s not busy and maybe do something nice for her before you ask. You’ll definitely have her attention if you do.” Nat smiled, bouncing a little in her seat. “Just ask. No reason to over think it.”

Trevor absentmindedly glanced down at his hands, moving his fingers and tapping them against his knuckles in quiet. "That sounds like a great idea, Nat.. you don't mind if I borrow it from ya, right?" The blond said, tilting his head slightly to look up to her with a small grin. Maybe he could plan a nice little dinner for once, or just spend a carefree day with her. After all, he was normally too busy, and she seemed to be the same way. "Thanks, Nat."

14. My muse leaves a note in a book they’ve borrowed from you, in the hopes you’ll find it eventually.

He bit his lip for a moment, glancing over the page that had a small, folded note pressed against the binding. Trevor had read through the note dozens of times and often scrapped it, and even the one that he had placed on the delicate pages of the book was a little too crammed for his liking. Besides that, he was glad that he actually worked up the nerve to even ask for a book to borrow. He did read it, though, since he has always loved literature, and it was the perfect way to express his thoughts without needing to do so verbally.

With one final sigh, he knocked on the door to Natalia’s room with the book closed shut under his arm. Time to return return the book..

Trevor looked down to his hands in the silence as he laced his fingers to keep still for the time being as he waited for a reaction. He knew that he either blew their friendship out of the water, or said what he needed to say that could benefit them in one way or another.

His turned his attention to Nat’s outstretched hand for a moment, until watching her retract it from his. He didn’t say anything until he heard her speaking, which he in turn glanced up to look at her, yet he couldn’t focus on her eyes without looking away. As soon as she said that she liked him, his heart fluttered and he gave a small smile. “I’m glad this is.. w-well, mutual..” The poor boy didn’t know what to say, as he thought that she wouldn’t return the feeling, so now he was more flustered then when he had said it. But he had to admit that it felt as if the weight crushing his chest earlier was gone and replaced with relief.

She smiled brightly at him, her heart throbbing. She couldn’t believe she had just said that to him. It had been on her mind for a while now, and she had been trying to figure out how to tell him…figuring out of he felt that way about her too. And then she finds the letter and sees her opportunity staring at her in the face.

Gaining the courage, she reached out once more, this time actually taking his hand. “Ah…I…I don’t know what comes next. Do I hug you? Or…kiss?…”

Trevor glanced down as her hand reached for his own, yet it didn’t seem to bother him as much as it normally would. He ran his thumb along her hand gently as she spoke, which raised questions as to what they were to do now. “I.. uh..”

Instead of elaborating, he just took the chance of leaning forwards and placing a quick kiss on her cheek, and then sat back with a small, nervous grin.

Nat blushed the moment his lips met her cheek. Her face grew quite hot, a reaction she wasn’t necessarily expecting. Her hand slowly slid up to her cheek, holding it as a goofy smile came across her face. “Ah…th-thank you.” She now felt like she had to return it somehow, like to show her feelings. Nat took in a deep breath before leaning in, placing a kiss at the corner of his mouth. She had actually missed his cheek and didn’t mean to, but there was no way to take it back now.

Trevor watched a warm blush creep across her face, and a rosy pink dashed across his cheeks. He realized that he had been worried for nothing, yet that still didn’t put him at ease. They were both treading on uncommon ground.

The kiss to the corner of his mouth made his eyes widen slightly, and he blushed like a school girl. Instead of saying anything on the kiss, he turned his head slightly to kiss her gently on the lips. Trevor didn’t want to be the one to cross any boundaries, so it didn’t take long until he leaned back slightly to put a small distance between the two of them.

She hadn’t expected him to grow so bold so fast. She barely had the time to savor his kiss before he pulled away. Now having that distance between them, Nat bloomed a bright red. Oh, did they just do that? Was any of this real? Because it didn’t feel like it to her. No, this was what happened in her dreams. She never expected life to deliver this amazing man to her, that he would actually like her weird self.

Nat glanced at her lap, finding that if she looked at him for too long, her mind would go a little blank. “Ah…S-so…what….what next? Did….did you want to be…ah….” She trailed off. She wasn’t sure if she could say the words so she thought being quiet would be better than stuttering.

The blond adverted his gaze in silence, looking down to where their hands met. Her skin was warm against his cold palms from staying out in the surprisingly cold weather. As his mind started to kick in, focusing on the moment that just happened between the two of them, his face gradually became a bright red in comparison to his fair skin tone. Oh boy, did he really just do that? He had reacted without much thought, and Trevor hoped that he wasn't pushing the envelope, as he was a naturally nervous guy in the first place.

At the first sound of her stuttering voice, his eyes focused on her nose as if to avoid looking her right in the eyes. If he did that, he had a feeling that his blush would become as red as a tomato. "D-did I..?" he murmured, stuttering as he rolled the words over his head for a moment, trying to clear it up. "I, uh, I mean.." Great, now he couldn't properly form words even more than usual. "I-I suppose s-so, yeah.."

Falling backwards, Salma groaned in pain. Looking up, her face flushed at who fell on top of her. "O-Oh! Hello Trevor!"

"S-sorry!" The blond spoke quickly, not meaning to squish Salma under his weight. He pushed himself upwards until he could fall back beside her to avoid crushing her. "I, uh, didn’t s-see you there."

"It’s ok! Accidents happen~" she sat up and patted his head. "Just be careful next time,okay?"
