“The trees are about to show us how lovely it is to let things go."
It was a wonderful time of the year. Most would consider Christmas to be the best time of the year. But, for Kaide Parker that was Fall and Halloween. It was the time when everything started to change. Days became shorter, the temperature grew cooler. The leaves on the tree’s began to turn colors and fall to the ground. Making a certain crunch when you walked over them. Which was music to his ears. The homes of New York began to be decorated with different ghosts, goblins and witches. Pumpkins being almost all over the place. The smell of anything pumpkin spice would be in the air.
Life was good, it was the most perfect time of the year for him at least. He walked to the streets of the busy streets of the Bronx. Passing various people in their sweaters and scarves. Different kind of hot drinks held in their hands. A smirk made his way across his face. Most men didn’t like the fall decor at least, most men he knew. Kaide must have been a great exception. He was on his morning walk to his cafe and already in the mood for fall. He was planning on getting all the fall things out today. Making up the menu for the Fall Coffee for Nirvana.
He had Olivia heading over to help out. She was training and was thinking of working here. She had money where she had fought against Josh in court. But she had loved spending time with her dear brother, and it wouldn’t help to stay busy. Unlocking the shop, he didn’t turn the sign to open yet. He had another hour til nine, which was his opening time. At this time last year he never thought he’d be here. Happy for once in a good while. He had his dream job, his dream girl, and his dream life. Last September he was heart broken, losing so much. Now here he was happy again.
Setting out various pumpkins in the open window frames. He heard the door open and the bell above it jingle. Looking at the dark-haired girl, he smiled at his little sister. “Hey Liv, you ready to help me decorate? You were always better at it.” he said honestly. As children, Olivia was the one who loved to help their mother decorate. He missed his mother today, it was everyday he missed her. But, today was him missing her greatly. Her birthday was next week, she would’ve been fifty next week. “Of course.” she said with a smile. At least he had his sister, which he was grateful for.
