I got the scorching boi!

Thank god I didn't have to pity pull him and can save the medals for a different character. We finally got a case of Kafka fighting with not just his fists! His main attacks are powerful kicks and his ultimate is flamethrower! The lore behind him is also pretty interesting.

Kafka, why do you keep making yourself Ragnaraika coded? Out here absorbing foreign negative emotions such as rage like a sponge and wielding it with immense force. Doesn't help that your kaiju is reptilian which fits the Yugioh archetype, lol.

KN8 Rarest Pairs

Hello everyone! I hope you guys are doing well whether you celebrate Valentine's Day or not! Figured why not make something for this usually romantic day. A list of super rare pairs for Kaiju No. 8 that came to mind.

Kafka/Isao/Hikari: When Kaiju No. 6 leaves you with a broken marriage instead of a dead wife, what do you do? Apparently a man who cleans kaiju corpses can be the unexpected answer to such a problem.

Kafka/No.8: An recently aged out Defense Force candidate meets a kaiju tied to his bloodline. It leads to questions and a whirlwind romance.

Rin/Tae: Platoon leaders of rivalling divisions are more likely to get together behind closed doors. Especially if the attention is on their captains and vice captains rather than them.

Kafka/Rin : Who would've the new recruit to your division can help with one sided attraction towards a gamer? The man being a kaiju is an extra bonus.

Kafka/No. 10: "How To Teach A Kaiju There's More To The World Than Fighting." What they watch for movie dates are mostly classic cartoons known for their whacky violence.

Mina/Rin/Tae: The First Division platoon leader has a spicy secret. Luckily no one is ballsy enough to pry into the secrets of a strong woman with a gatling gun.

Hakua/Akari: Lovers who still remain friends even on their wedding. Who says romance overrides such a bond?

Hakua/Akari/Kikoru: It all started with a trip to America. They haven't broken up since, no matter the long distance or division changes.

Kafka/Tae: Is it a possible HR violation to be smitten with your platoon leader? Especially if it's mutual and she asked first.

Soshiro/Tae: Two flavors of mischief makers have come together. Expect training experiences to become more dastardly when they decide to collaborate.

Soshiro/Ikaruga: Sometimes fitness ventures can lead to a budding relationship. Training exercises are bound to get more experimental and adventurous.

Tae/Okonogi: She's a sweet field operator while her lover is a fiery platoon leader. They work together splendidly like handcrafted spicy chocolates.

Okonogi/Rin: No one said field operators were involved in division rivalry. Why not ask the one in the Third for a nice date and see where it leads?

Reno/Akari: A kind young man with an icy heart meets a sweet gal that shines like the sun. Even winter can have its delightfully warm sunny days.

Hakua/Iharu: Enjoyers of fun and crazy merriment. It's never boring when these two get together, whether it be romance or a challenge.

Haruichi/Akari/Aoi: Love can easily sprout in the background without notice. It helps that trouble has its preference as dates are more successful for those the cosmic force ignores.

Kaiju No.8/ Ushio and Tora! Raijin

A New Legacy

Kafka had been worried recently…

The Yokai/ Human Hybrid which the Monster Sweepers had taken in had been acting strangely for the past week now.

Now Raijin definitely wasn't normal and definitely acted odd from time to time but that was mostly because of there lack of knowledge or familarity with modern technology.

However this strangness wasn't like how they would usually act, no Raijin was disappearinga nd reappearing at random for the past week. They would be at the Monster Sweepers a bit before disappearing into a nearby wooded area for no explanation on hours on end.

It had everybody worried that something bad was going on with Raijin which is what everybody was currently doing at the Monster Sweepers

" Is Raijin still not back?" Hiroto asked as everybody started to get ready to go home. They all had seen Raijin this morning but after that the Yokai wandered off to the woods again without fail.

" Yup I checked the roof and the lounge area but no signs of Raijin. Most still be out and about doing whatever." Tokuda answered as he grabbed his Water Bottle from his locker.

" Hmm this is pretty strange. in fact hasn't the kid been like this for the past couple of days?" Kinugasa asked as he strapped on his boots

" A week actually. I'm not gonna lie I have been worried since the 3rd Day, it's not like the m to disappear withou warning so frequently" Kafka said as he tapped his hand on the table in worry.

Everyone looked at Kafka in worry as they knew that out of all of them kafka had taken the most parental attachment to the Yokai, teaching the kid a lot of how the modern world worked and spending time with them off duty to show them Tokyo and all it had to offer.

Everyone was happy for Kafka to as the man had been happier lately. Everyone saw how the man would enjoy chatting with Raijin about various shows and foods, happily teaching them about modern japan and kaiju. Kafka had a light back in his eyes everyone had not seen for awhile.

To put it simply everyone were like Uncles to Raijin while Kafka was like a father to the yokai.

So seeing this odd and frankly out of character behavior was really worrying Kafka that something was wrong.

" Well hopefully tomorrow Raijin will be back to normal or at least hang around a bit longer." Hiroto sighed as they got there coat on and his keys and started towards the door with a few other of the Sweepers getting ready to follow

" Hey Kafka, where going to the bar tonight for a few drinks and some darts you want to tag along" Tokuda said to his long time friend as everyone looked back at the black haired man for a answer.

" Actually you guys can go on without me. I'm going to stay and wait here for Raijin to come back. I already talked it over with Mizoguchi so I will be locking up to." Kafka said as his other hand fiddled with the keys that Mizoguchi entrusted him with.

" Really? Well alright if there is anyone Raijin will talk to it would be you, see ya tomorrow Kafka." Tokuda said with a wave as everyone walked out

Kafka sat alone only hearing the gentle hum of the AC as he waited for Raijin to comeback and hopefully talk about whatever had gotten into the youth.

Raijin floated back down to the Monster Sweepers roof holding a strange box. Today they had made some good progress but it still was not near completion as Raijin still need quite few things before it could even be used.

Raijin went over to a little hidden space on the roof behind one of the Metal boxes and placed there box behind it before casting a spell to hide it from any eyes that could spot it.

" * YAWNNNNN* Oh Man that tough but it is getting through little bit by bit…hopefully I will be able to finish it." Raijin said to themselves and went over to the door on the roof and phased through. Walking down stairs they went to grab some water before heading out for some food to eat which is how they came face to face with a worried Kafka.

Raijin raised an eyebrow at the Monster Sweeper wondering why they were still here so late still

" Kafka? What are you still doing here? I thought you be back home by now" The Azafuse asked in curiosity as to why they were here still

Kafka just looked a bit sheepish before answering

" Well I am still here because well…Ok in all honesty everyone else and I have been worried this past week about you" Kafka answered right off the bat and Raijin was pretty confused at to why everyone was worried about them.

Kafka explained that everyone noticed how Raijin hadn't been sticking around at all and had been coming home late, late enough that no one was around to even see them. It was out of character and everyone had worried how this had persisted on for a week with no explanation. So Kafka decided to stay late and talk to them to see if anything was wrong or understand why the Azafuse had been disappearing for so long.

Hearing this Raijin felt bad. They didn't think everyone here would get so worried about them or there wellbeing. And worrying the people that took them in was not something that Raijin wanted to do so they told Kafka that they would be right back and show them what the Azafuse had been doing this past week.

Sitting across from Kafka, Raijin had brought down a box from the roof and placed it in the center of the table. Opening it revealed to Kafka something that kind of surprised them

" A..Spear Head?" Kafkfa asked in confusion seeing the spear head in the wooden box.

" Ya, this is why I had been disappearing for the past week. Let me explain a bit more. This Spear head is something that I had been making for the past week. It's why I disappear in the morning and don't come back until later. I have been in the forest forging this Spear Head which will later be apart of a full on spear after I finish forging this first" Raijin explained to Kafka before the older man let out a sigh of relief

" Ok now everything makes sense. Here everyone else and I thought something had been wrong. This puts that worry to rest at least." Kafka let out a laugh as Raijin smiled a bit embarrassed that they made everyone worry over something so simple.

" Though I do wonder, what made you want to forge a spear all of a sudden?" Kafka asked in interest as the Azafuse's smile faltered a bit

" I…I am not entirely sure. After I saw some of the Defense Force in battle on the Tv one day while out. I got this sudden urge to start making something…a weapon. I…I didn't understand it at first and I still don't." Raijin said seriously as Kafka had immediately gone quiet and listened to what there friend had to say

" I started to think that I should forge something and the idea of a spear came to mind immediately. It's like I had suddenly gained a interest that I never knew I had. When I started to forge the Spear head I felt happy and proud of my work. With each strike of the hammer and each swipe of the whetstone I grew more passionate about what I was making. That I couldn't wait to see how the weapon would turn out. It's all very odd to me. I should note that this isn't a bad feeling. This feeling makes me happy and makes me want to see through this first creation of mine to the end."

Raijin finished there small explanation to Kafka who looked in some new concern and curiosity at Raijin. The Yokai had told him how before arriving in this world there Mother had used a powerful Spear known as the Beast Spear and it was the reason for there current Yokai nature as the Beast Spear curse affected them while still in there mother's womb. It made Kafka think that maybe it had something to do with that Spear.

However at the moment it seemed Raijin wasn't concerned about this new interest of there's so maybe Kafka was just over thinking it.

" That is very interesting but if you feel that it is nothing to worry about than I think your probably right or who knows maybe this is just a hidden interest that you have finally taken notice of. What ever it is if you ever need to talk you can always come to me. Andddd I would really love to see the finished Spear when it's done if you don't mind." Kafka said with a big smile towards the Azafuse.

Raijin let a small smile creep on there face in return before answering that they love to show off there first official forge.

" Awesome now you hadn't gotten anything to eat right? Let's go down towards that Burger Joint you like because I am not gonna lie I am pretty hungry to!" Kafka said eagerly as Raijin nodded wanting to chow down after a long day.

Both walked out of the Monster Sweepers headquarters with a smile on there face and there bond a little deeper than before.

The Monster Sweepers are definitely relieved that Raijin is okay. I imagine they are also interested in seeing the spear once it's complete. Kafka definitely introduced the Azafuse to burgers btw.

Here's the second part to the caretaker au with Kaiju!Kafka! I will be discussing two possible routes near the end as a friend on Discord gave me this idea. Let's get started!

The impact Kafka has upon everyone can be considered two fold. When it comes to the kaiju he raised, they behave way differently than most. All of them avoid humans whenever possible and a good chunk have grown to daikaiju level.

This is because they were carefully taught by Kafka to not cause the smaller species trouble. A common cause of death for kaiju was the Defense Force and the worst way to agitate them was invading their territory. Thus he taught the whelps under his care about how to avoid both. From planning routes to certain resources, stockpiling supplies to even distract nearby officers.

A peculiar behavior that was barely noted by the DF due to how well these individuals dodged them. The kaiju Kafka raised has tried to instill his lessons to their offspring with mixed results. Some individuals just won't listen.

If these unique kaiju ever encountered humans raised by the himbo, then two interactions are possible. The first is mutual acknowledgement where both go their own way without any incident. Neither want to cause Kafka grief so they remain civil.

The second interaction is mutual symbiosis. Both parties keep in contact and they help each other from time to time. It's more apparent for Kafka's human children who lived or worked in the countryside as the Defense Force has a smaller presence there.

Speaking of the human half, they often affect him in some way due to their jobs. Those who worked on buildings like electricians upgraded his cavern home to be more comfortable for both residents. Water systems, electricity powered by his shed scales, various appliances and even wifi were added thanks to these crafty kids.

Kafka is often asked to test merchandise for his children that work in design, food or marketing. Playing with toys, wearing human clothes, sample new dishes and measuring the durability for certain materials. Sometimes he is lucky enough to keep the prototypes.

Those who work in medical related fields often shared their insight with him. Pediatricians were able to help Kafka keep an eye on his current children's diet or possible allergies. Doctors and herbalists shared medicinal advice alongside a few techniques.

Then there are individuals who work in fields based on kaiju. Kafka often helped his children that became researchers or handled kaiju rearing at wildlife sanctuaries. Although things are different with those that became Defense Force officers.

They do their best to make sure the DF never finds him. Whether it be discrediting the Caretaker myth or alerting Kafka to hide in case of a drone in the area. The latter task was easy since all his human children had created a group chat to communicate with each other.

It isn't uncommon for those in Kafka's care to share their chosen profession. This was the case for Reno Ichikawa. He would cross paths with the kaiju after No. 6's disastrous attack. Due to his grandmother being unable to care for him, the boy was going to wound up in the orphanage.

A decision that made little Reno runaway into the wilderness as he refused to be in the system. He would eventually pass out in Kafka's territory from hunger due to his inability to find food. It didn't help that the first thing he woke up to was the daikaiju's concerned face.

At this time, three whelps and four other children(which includes a baby) would be in his care. The other kids helped Reno realize that Kafka meant no harm to them. Although it took a bit longer for Ichikawa to see the daikaiju as more than a caretaker.

Upon learning he wishes to be a Defense Force officer, the kaiju would teach the young boy what he knows like all the others. How to diffuse avoidable conflicts, notice suspicious behavior, find their weak points and anything else that could boost his prowess to survive. An open-mindedness Reno promised Kafka he would never misuse.

This task becomes a bit more difficult to uphold when the Caretaker Kaiju is no longer seen as a myth. Ichikawa would be already serving the Third Division once this news becomes widespread. Although one more person in the DF is also greatly affected by this interest of Kaiju No. 8.

Gen Narumi was also another person Kafka raised. However these two routes depend on what happens once he leaves the nest. The paths are respectively called Separation and Homebound.

Our first route is when he leaves early under the care of an older kid. The two would be separated and Narumi grows up thinking Kafka was a childhood dream. He will begin to remember his times with the daikaiju as the DF prepares to capture the Caretaker.

The second route is focused on Narumi trying to keep his connection with Kafka hidden. Due to the popularity of the myth amongst orphans or kids in bad homes, he becomes a target to suspicion. Eventually the captain will have to return home for the man's sake.

The Caretaker

An AU that's been swimming in my mind for some time now. November has been a pretty sad month all around and it's put me in a funk. Hopefully I can kick it faster than writer's block! For now let's get started.

Long ago a unique kaiju would emerge into the world. A beast the size of a large mountain, dark as night, and whose power could tear apart the heavens with earth shattering lightning. This intimidating stature had come with a sad cost.

His lair never saw a visitor as man, beast and kaiju were scared to get too close. Leaving the beast alone with only his thoughts. Then something would happen that changed everything. On one fateful day, our kaiju came across a lone whelp in his domain.

It was clear the child would perish without help and no one will take them. Thus the kaiju took it upon himself to raise the whelp as best he could. Although what should've been one child swiftly didn't stay that way for long.

Young kaiju from different stages of life began to cross his path very frequently since then. Individuals with nowhere to go and different reasons why. The kaiju steadily began to adapt over time just so he could take care of them better.

He developed pouches on his belly and back that will allow him to carry supplies but also any whelps at the same time. The kaiju adapted glands which would provide milk for infants who couldn't eat solid food yet. He learned to make himself smaller in order to better handle everyone no matter the size.

Almost like a switch, the solitude the beast was once familiar with has been consumed by the noise of lively bright children. Even when it came time for them to leave the nest, the loneliness had lost its potency. He honestly thought kaiju would be the only creature that would come into his care.

Expectations were once again destroyed when a small group of human whelps found themselves in his domain.

Yup. Another Kaiju!Kafka AU but with a different spin on things. His design is based on Always A Kaiju except with the aforementioned slight differences. This being the two kangaroo-like pouches located on his back and lower stomach. He's also a bit pudgier around the belly due to the milk glands which function similar to a platypus(he sweats milk).

A change which wasn't mentioned is the ability to form prehensile soft tendrils from his back. These appendages help him handle the kids whenever his hands are full. Merely some of the adaptations which help the kaiju raise the various children that would come into his care for around 360 years. (Kafka was 40 when the first whelp appeared.)

The first human children to need his help appeared in the kaiju's late 300s(360 years old to be precise.) Orphans who were on a little bus trip only to have their vehicle totaled by a vicious kaiju. Their caretakers had fallen prey to the monster while the kids reached Kafka's territory somewhat safely.

Now he was in the dark when it came to raising humans. Much less a whole group of 30 in every possible age range: infants, toddlers, kids, teens, late teens. Getting the children to trust him was also a mix especially since he had a few whelps under his care and he couldn't speak their language(yet).

Luckily Kafka's goofy panicked behavior had helped convey to the orphans that they were safe. Ironically enough, the older kids became his biggest aid when handling their respective needs. Even with the slang and other strange customs. In fact, they were the ones to give him his name: Kafka.

The group weren't the only humans he would raise over the next 40 years. More children came into the older kaiju's care as time went by. Some of the ones who were now adults either stayed with Kafka, visited him, or kept in touch.

They helped make his cavern more efficient and habitable for any new residents. Even teaching the kaiju more about human culture to things like cooking or sewing. (Kafka has to get into stuff like Guramon somehow.)

Within those 40 years, the kaiju raised over 1,880 humans to go along with the general 5,810 kaiju. Soon vague rumors about him would reach the former species. A fairytale favored amongst orphans known as the Caretaker for those in his care shall find their true home.

Despite how hard Kafka's kids tried to keep things under control, the Defense Force would learn it isn't just a story. Or those with ties to him are closer than they think.
