That idea with Water Boy with Gears you told me about reminded me on how I was thinking about the potential Water Boy has with his powers.
I believe Water Boy doesn't know the extent of what his powers can do or hasn't trained them well enough.
His Water Gun attack is shown to have some massive force behind it because in the final fight he is shown to be able to shoot himself upward into a body slam.
I think a bit of creativity can make Water Boy's power have some more applications.
Like think of how when you have water in a straw an you blow out wards and it shoots out. If Water Boy could do that I imagine he could shoot water out like a bullet, which would give him better range options and a another option for Water Boy to use his Water Gun.
Or the that Bracelet Idea for Water Boy that absorbs the excess water he secretes. If Gears or someone else could make him a type water blaster that connects to those Bracelets, he could use the excess water like a hose which would make a better and easier option for putting out fires or cleaning up sludge from a villain.
There is potential with Water Boy's power and I think a bit of creativity would help a lot.
Waterboy is a hero in training after all so someone did see potential. Other than his self confidence, I think his powers are a recent occurrence. Like his backstory comic shows he lives with his grandma and her cats. Waterboy was practically dreaming that he could properly control his powers i.e not make everything wet.
Gears' gift is also a nice way to set up a goal for him. If he can learn how to stop excreting water or at least reduce it by himself, then the hero in training can really become a force to be reckoned. Power means nothing without proper control.
