Kai Romero {Birthday Drabble}

Kai sat in the back of the diner, scrolling through some posts on his phone. He was bored as hell just sitting there. But it wasn't like there was anything else for him to do at this point anyway. Right now, he was just "laying low"... sort of. He sighed and turned his phone off. Kai pocketed it before he stood and headed for the door. He stopped and paid for the coffee he had and then he left. He raised his hood over his head as he stepped into the rain. Kai turned and headed down the street, keeping his head low. He walked until he reached an old run down motel. He entered and speed walked pasted the front desk. Kai jogged up the stairs, just as the elderly woman who owned the motel turned to try and talk to him. He entered his room and sat down on the bed. He was about to kick off his boots and take a nap when someone knocked at the door. Puzzled, he stood and walked over. He opened the door and found the elderly woman standing there, a cupcake with a candle in hand, and a smile on her face. Kai smiled back and laughed as she wished him a happy birthday. He thanked her and accepted the cupcake, but not before inviting her in. He cut the cupcake in half and shared it with her. He smiled again. This was alright.
