Don’t mind me, just another meme for my fan fiction. Background: Anjou tells Kaiya not to time travel because it will take a toll on her body and she does it anyway because curiosity
Okay so here’s the pictures I took for a small smut portion of the chapter about Kaiya and Zihang falling in love with each other at Cassell College. Warning: characters are clothed but the pictures are slightly nsfw (implied sexual content)
A young girl, blue in appearance, walked over to the unconscious girl on the ground. Her long straight blue hair trailed behind her, gliding effortlessly in the air. Her dress which faded into binary code by her feet, shifted gracefully with her movements. She glowed bright, like the transparent computer screens in the room.
“Do you think she’ll be okay?” the hologram girl asked innocently.
“We’ll find out,” an elderly man replied. The tall man adjusted his glasses and ran a hand through his white luscious hair while holding a cigar in his other hand. “But the real question is…will WE be okay?” The man puffed on his cigar and flung his coat over the shoulder of his stylish black suit.
“Principal Anjou, is that another riddle?” She asked.
“Perhaps, EVA” Anjou chuckled. “It must be a side effect of getting old.”
“Speaking of age,” EVA began. “According to our tests, this girl was underwater for 20 years, but she appears to be a little younger.” Anjou puffed on his cigar before speaking.
“She doesn’t seem that much younger to me,” Anjou replied smugly.
“Of course you would think that…” EVA buried her face into her hand.
“When she was found off the coast of Siberia, she was not only frozen in ice, but she had a stasis forcefield around her.” Anjou’s smile faded as he stared at the girl. “It was as though she was frozen in time,” he speculated.
EVA tilted her head at Anjou. “Like Time Zero? Your ability to slow down time?”
“Yes,” he replied coldly. “We don’t yet know who used this time-slowing skill on her, but this would mean that there’s a very powerful hybrid out there with an EX Skill similar to mine.” Anjou stroked his beard. “They could be a danger to us or the whole world.”
River’s eyes slowly opened and she slightly jerked upon waking. Though her vision was blurry she noticed the tall elderly man and the blue hologram girl standing over her.
“Who…who are you?” River asked, squinting from the brightness of the room. She could see a large dark wooden desk, possibly walnut, with transparent computer screens floating around it. The room was large with a tall ceiling and a door just as tall. In an attempt to get up, River shifted her hands across the glossy midnight-blue floor, and pushed herself up into a sitting position.
“I was going to ask you the same!” Anjou let out a hearty laugh.
“Please be careful about your movement,” EVA said to River. “You’ve been asleep for a long time.”
River was hesitant but she could see from the concerned expression on the blue girl’s face that these people were not a danger to her…yet. Besides, she didn’t want to stir up any trouble. Conflict isn’t her forte. “I’m River…” she said hesitantly.
Anjou smiled. “Welcome to Cassell College, River. This is EVA, our lovely A.I. assistant. I am Principal Anjou…but you can just call me Hilbert.” Anjou smirked and winked at River.
“Ugh, can he stop creeping on the female students for just one minute?” whispered a girl standing by the door. She was wearing a red and black thin-strapped dress and matching heels that were planted firmly on the ground. Her long fiery hair swayed by her face, as her red irises glared at the pervy old man. She spoke up. “The poor girl’s only been awake for two minutes and you’re already being creepy.”
Anjou placed a hand on his chest. “What can I say? Being around beautiful girls makes me feel young again.” The red-eyed girl scoffed then stared curiously at River, looking her up and down.
Anjou called to the girl. “NoNo…Perhaps you can show our new student, River, around…after we run one final test.”
“Leave it to me,” NoNo said sternly as she nodded without any facial expression.
Anjou looked back at River. “EVA, lets conduct the test now.” EVA nodded.
“You can stand now,” she said to River. “We are going to conduct a test. Don’t worry, its non-invasive and will not hurt.” River looked back at Anjou with a hint of worry in her eyes.
River’s eyebrows wrinkled and she lowered her head to stare at the ground. “Usually…” River said under her breath. “Whenever the nurses at the orphanage said something wasn’t going to hurt…it meant it was going to hurt a lot.”
“You have my word,” Anjou gently replied. “You will be fine. I have some business to attend to, but EVA here will take good care of you.” Though she didn’t know him, his words felt genuine. Now feeling less overwhelmed, she thought to ask Anjou some questions.
“Principal Anjou…how did I end up here? And–” He cut her off.
“We can discuss your origins later.” He walked out and NoNo followed, leaving River and EVA alone.
“Now,” EVA started. “We will conduct a test to evaluate your true ability.”
“Ability?” River asked with a raised eyebrow.
“D-Cypher Resonance ability. It will measure how much resonance you have with your Extra Skills as a hybrid. Step up to the center of this circle on the floor. Relax and close your eyes.” River has never heard these words before but she complied, curious about the test. She suddenly heard a high-pitched sound and in response, her eyes sprung open without her control and her irises became golden in color. She instantly found herself in a dark void surrounded by golden specks that resembled stars.
“What is this?” River asked. Golden symbols that resembled drawn constellations appeared before her one by one. Except…they weren’t any constellations she knew of. They looked more like the ancient runes she once saw on rocks in the forest of Black Swan Bay. The same forest she loved to wander into, usually resulting in her getting in trouble with Dr. Herzog.
The test was completed in less than a minute and River felt as if she was suddenly sucked out of the dark void, her vision bringing her back to the room. Anjou suddenly appeared before her in a millisecond and trailing behind him was a very brief streak of light. How did he appear so fast?…I didn’t even see him enter the room, River thought to herself.
Anjou paced a circle around her, examining her closely. He stopped in front of her and adjusted his glasses. “Interesting…” he said as he tapped his cigar before taking another puff. “She did not respond to the call of the Dark King and presented such an odd combination of scores. S rank in the D-Cypher Resonance ability, but only D rank in terms of ability to control it. This instability can be life-threatening.” River’s eyes widened not sure what to make of this information.
“Life-threatening?” she asked. Dark King? S rank? Instability? “Wha–”
“No need to worry right now, River,” Anjou reassured her. “I will look into it. In the meantime, EVA will get you enrolled into our fine college.” River’s mind was plagued with questions but no one seemed to have the desire to answer them.
“The college has already prepared a uniform for you,” EVA cheerfully said. From one of the arched doors behind her, came a small white floating ball. Its eyes and mouth were blue circles and lines like those of a digital clock.
“This is our little robot butler, ADAMS,” EVA said. The robot opened up its bottom inner compartment and dropped out a dark purple dress complete with white frills and a pair of calve-length leather boots.
“Uniform!” ADAMS cheerfully exclaimed before buzzing away. River picked up the uniform and examined it. She then turned to Anjou.
“Now, try it on,” Anjou grinned. EVA and River blankly stared at him. Anjou returned their stare, seemingly clueless.
“Principal Anjou…” EVA said with an impatient tone. He continued to stare back at them for a few more seconds before finally realizing that they were aware of his presence and were waiting for him to go before River undressed.
“Oh yes…this is my cue to leave the room,” Anjou chuckled. “Yes. I am a gentleman after all.” He put his cigar in his mouth and smoothly headed towards the exit. “I’ll send NoNo in after a few minutes.”
River struggled into her new uniform. It was very fitted, outlining all of her curves. The bottom of the dress was much shorter and more flared than what she was accustomed to. She frantically tugged at the edges and frills as if hoping they would extend to at least reach the middle of her thighs. It was no use. This extremely short dress wasn’t going to get any longer and she now had to be very careful because simply bending down could expose her rear end.
“EVA, who designed this uniform?” River inquired as she crossed her arms.
“Principal Anjou of course,” EVA replied.
“That…that explains a lot actually,” River sighed. Suddenly, the doors burst open and NoNo came strutting in.
“Hey you!” the fiery girl exclaimed. “Follow me…I could use another lackey.” She grinned at River…the kind of grin which hinted that trouble would soon follow.
Announcement: So I finally posted the first chapter (which sat in my queue forever), which I'm sorry to say it's just that part where Black Swan Bay is destroyed. Didn't mean to put y'all through that again but it's vital to the story. I am trying to be a little more accurate to the DR lore but some characters will be somewhat OOC and events modified to drive the plot in the direction I had originally planned back in 2020 (I know, it took me forever to finally figure out where I'm taking this story😂). Some aspects of this fan fiction will be based around both the novels and the game, but mostly the game. The quality of the writing will vary depending on my health and school work, but I will do the best I am capable of (even if the work isn’t technically my ‘best’, I’ll write what I can). Please enjoy and feel free to give me any feedback at any time <3
Chapter 1: Iced
The silence of the cold Siberian air was cut with the crackle of gun fire and the shouts of soldiers. The snowy forest and orphanage were set ablaze while explosions boomed everywhere. Smoke filled the air as the screams of the orphans echoed through the night. They were the brothers and sisters of 18-year-old River. River frantically looked around, her breathing shallow and eyes wide with fear. Black Swan Bay, the only place she called home, was in peril and there wasn’t much she could do to save it. Her wavy black hair stuck to her cheeks and her tawny skin shined with sweat from the panic. Her lavender eyes searched amongst the chaos for her best friend, Renata, but instead spotted Vera, screaming for help.
The young girl, no older than 10 years old, ran towards River with an arm stretched out for her. Vera was instantly shot down by a soldier and dropped to the ground. The chocolate bar that River gifted to her earlier, flew out of her other hand. River gasped as her heart sank to her stomach and she felt her blood suddenly boil. An ancient power within her awakened. She let out an inhuman screech, emitting golden rays from her body as brown reptilian scales appeared on her arms and legs. River’s veins filled with rage, and she unleashed the power within them onto the soldiers who killed Vera.
No machine gun nor flamethrower could stop her. Zipping through the spaces between the soldiers, she took out a whole squad in a matter of seconds. Afterwards, her body returned to normal and she tried to catch her breath. River’s knees became wobbly and she wanted to collapse, but she had to continue her search for Renata. They’ve been through so much and they dreamed of traveling the world together. River momentarily closed her eyes and deeply inhaled. I need to find her, she thought to herself. She exhaled and ran off into the distance where more soldiers were trudging near the lighthouse on the cliff.
“The boss said to burn it all to the ground!” shouted one soldier in Russian. “Leave no witnesses.” River tried to hide amongst the bushes. Suddenly, she saw Renata fighting off swarms of soldiers. The thin and frail 14-year-old girl with large blue eyes, pale skin, and blonde hair, used her powers to push the soldiers back and tear them apart like paper. River calls out to her and jumps to her aid. Back-to-back, they fended off the soldiers together, trying their best to stay alive and protect their home. River was soon surrounded and a soldier shot her in the leg forcing her to kneel. Renata’s blood boiled and her eyes turned golden. With her powers she emitted a shockwave, wiping out a few of the soldiers and breaking apart their weapons.
Renata then telekinetically assembled a gatling gun from those pieces, and used it on the remaining soldiers. She kept on shooting but more squads just kept coming. In the distance, coming out from the shadows, a figure drew his gun. It was KGB officer, major Bondarev. His short golden hair glistened in the moonlight while the creases of his dark grey military uniform gently whirled in the snowy breeze. His turquoise eyes stared down the barrel of his handgun. Bondarev never misses his target, but this night, his streak ended.
His line of sight was set on River. Her eyes met his and she froze with fear. Bondarev hesitated for a few seconds. Those eyes…, he thought to himself. Where has he seen those eyes before? He quickly snapped out of his thoughts, returning focus on his mission. His finger tugged on the trigger, firing a bullet straight at River. Renata, having caught glimpse of him, intercepted the bullet, taking it into her chest.
“Renata!” River cried out in anguish. Bondarev and the soldiers began to close in. To their surprise, Renata was still alive, crawling and reaching out for River. Her eyes watered as the friends sat over the cliff’s edge holding each other. With great sorrow she whispered to River.
“Live…” she said. “You have to live...” She suddenly pushed River off the cliff and fully collapsed, praying her friend survives. Bondarev approached Renata while she lied still in the snow; eyes devoid of the light they once had…She was gone.
Bondarev spoke into the radio with a deep voice. “It’s done. That’s the last of them.” He walked away, heading back to the ship.
Before falling into the sea below, River rested her hand on her chest and clenched her golden fox pendant. She swore to avenge Renata and the orphans of Black Swan Bay. She swore to put an end to that monster, Bondarev. Her body pierced the ocean surface. The icy water swallowed her into its depths, as the coldness shocked her body. She sank further and further as she spotted the giant silhouette of a winged creature, swooping from the sky above. River’s eyes became heavy and her breath escaped her in the form of bubbles that were desperate to rise to the surface. The darkness and silence of the ocean depths blinded her senses. She blacked out…….
…
The voice of a young girl faintly echoed. “Do you think she’ll be okay?” the girl asked.
“We’ll find out,” an elderly man replied. “We will run more tests once she wakes up.”
