Books everyone should read → THE TAROT SEQUENCE

Hello Winter's Orbit fans! If you loved this book as much as I did and are looking for more books with a similar vibe... check out THE TAROT SEQUENCE by K.D. Edwards! Sci-fi and fantasy are two genres that go hand-in-hand and when you add the bonus layer of them being queer literature... it's becoming less rare but still. Finding ones to love as much as I love this book and this series?

Often I struggle with modern fantasy and science fiction because there's a lack of world building in them. Maxwell and Edwards both found the perfect balance between creating a complex plot and bringing to life three dimensional characters. There's romance, yes, but it's developed in a natural way that doesn't neglect the needed development of a fully fleshed-out system. For Winter's Orbit, that's a realized and complex system of planets and politics; for TTS, it's a unique magical system and complex political positioning. Both authors understand the importance of the mix of these things to create what I view as hopefully timeless pieces of literature.

Hello GREEN CREEK fans! It's been a while since I was a part of the fandom, for a lot of reasons. However, I remember the magic of first reading Wolfsong when it came out. I remember falling in love with the series. And if you're like me, maybe you found THE TAROT SEQUENCE already. But maybe you haven't! These series truly go hand-in-hand for a lot of people and so, if you enjoyed GC, I think you'll really love TTS.

I am going to be very real with you all. TTS healed wounds that Brothersong left for me. I wanted a series with nonbinary representation. I wanted to see an author listening more to their fanbase about mistakes in the narrative. I have been very open with my feelings about the final book in the GC series, how about how he treated his aromantic character, and the erasure of possible nonbinary representation. And I know and understand that many people disagree with me! However I know plenty of people were hurt by the complete dismissal of QPPs being genuine relationships. So if you don’t agree… That's okay! That's what discussion is for. These books are simply a rec for anyone who liked GC.

But also! It doesn't erase how much the first three books meant to me! They were so special. They were special in a way I don't think can be replicated. But TTS is special in a way that is similar and yet very different. As you can see from the graphics, they tackle similar tropes. If you loved the found family vibes of GC, you're going to love TTS. If you want people defeating their abusers, you're going to love TTS. If you loved societies where queerness is simply... accepted, like in the packs of GC, you're going to love TTS. And if you wanted to see even more representation in your books, you're going to utterly love TTS.

One thing I forgot in my graphics is that both books have amazing depictions of strong women! Which is always a plus and often isn't seen in achillean romances. I loved all the main characters and romances of GC. And I love the main characters of TTS.

So yeah. If you're a GC fan, you really need to check out TTS.
