((Not a Nira thing, also because I keep having random musings concerning potential future legion DHer stuff I went and created a new blog for that stuff. Blog is @niralegion Though Character ideas may change based on future information though I’m currently trying to stick to an area of time where new information at blizzcon/beta most likely won’t affect things.))
Ten Thousand Years Ago, Before the Sundering
The Archive in Zin-Azshari held many tomes, filled to the brim with the magical knowledge the Highborne had attained and jealously guarded. This particular archive didn’t even hold the most important magical secrets. No, those secrets were in a vault within Azshara’s Palace. Despite that this Archive did have the honor of residing at the foot of the Queen’s magnificent palace.
The Kaldorie Nythriia Voidscribe shuffled between the shelves carrying a stack of tomes high enough that they blocked her vision. Which wasn’t a big deal since the purple hued elf knew the archive like the back of her hand. Taking a turn as she moved into the main corridor before finding one of the workstations she set the tomes down and began to organize them on the table.
A male highborne stopped besides the table looking over the tomes a moment before his gaze went to Nythriia, “Nydan is expecting the copies by morning, and he is allowed usage for one week.”
She nodded with a bow, “Yes Theleth, that won’t be a problem.”
“Good, carry on Nythriia,” Theleth spoke before he moved on to observe the work of others.
Nythriia briefly pulled at her lower lip with her teeth before she picked up the first tome, glancing over at the order sheet to her left then back to the tome opening it to the appropriate page. She took up a piece of parchment and fetched a quill before dipping it in the enchanted transcription ink. With a few whispered words she applied the appropriate magical weave to the ink and began transcribing the tome onto the blank parchment. The enchantment combined with the minor spell would cause the transcribed words and glyphs to vanish after the set time.
Of course someone could potentially copy their copy before time ran out, but such things were frowned upon heavily. Besides it required meticulous attention to detail and was better left to a scribe like her. Even as her thoughts wandered ever so slightly her quill danced along the sheet, writing down not only words but symbols and diagrams of spell frames in perfect detail to the original tome.
The lean night elf continued her work hardly noticing the passage of time until the silhouette of an elf went by her. Causing her to look up and catch sight of the individual, a young male Kaldorie. It only took her a moment to recognize that the elf was one of the Stormrage twins, Illidan. His amber gaze met hers briefly in acknowledgement of her presence before he looked off and disappeared into the Archive.
She tilted her head to the side, it was always that same look, one that just said ‘I see you’ and nothing more. Nythriia knew he was a rather talented spellcaster and wasn’t bad on the eyes at all, she’d even toyed with the idea of asking if he wanted to grab something to eat. That look however said everything that needed to be said, with the complete disinterest it expressed.
With a shrug the scribe went back to her work, if she ever wanted a chance to work in the Palace itself she had to do her job to perfection. She wouldn’t remain a low level highborn for the rest of her life, eventually she would work and practice her craft enough that she’d rise up. Be acknowledged by the Light of Lights as one of her most beloved, allowed to delve the secrets of the well with the other favored highborne like Xavius and Dath’remar.
Nythriia let out a sigh, Daydreaming wasn’t going to get her the acknowledgement she desired, nor would it finish this transcription on time. She closed her silver eyes and drew in several slow breaths while letting the fantasy dissolve before returning to the parchment with renewed vigor.
