Mochi nage: When the main frame of a new house is completed, it is good luck to throw mochi from it. The first five thrown from the corners and the centre of the house are huge mochis that may contain money. This is then followed by a shower of small mochis and snacks. Everyone at the scene was well prepared with plastic bags. And the real pros here are the obaachans who go home with their bags stuffed with mochi.
