5. Books or authors that influenced your style the most.
I like to think that I have a pretty unique style when it comes down to it--sure everything I’ve read has probably influenced me here and there, but I think that if you asked me to write something from the heart, my writing would be different from anything you’ve probably read. With that being said, though, catch me emulating different novels/writers’ methods of storytelling for the sake of experimenting with it. I’m always down for emulating authors.
6. Favorite character you ever created.
Probably Signel the cat, who went from being a cat from joke stories to an actual human-ish character with a backstory and a life outside of the humor stories he was from. Yes I named all my online accounts after this character, I have always thought he’s neat.
20. Post a snippet of a WIP you’re working on.
(I haven’t touched this story since, like, July but I’m gonna get back into writing it here real soon, heh. so here’s, uh, the first four paragraphs of what we know as the parasol whipping fic?)
Every time Maribelle had set foot in that dressing room thatday, she had been incredibly mindful of the oversized mirror that took up halfof one of the walls. She’d admired herself in it over and over again, makingsure that her hair was perfectly in place, that her dress was positionedexactly how it was meant to be, that her makeup hadn’t smudged, and so on. Itwas where she and everyone in her wedding party had taken countless selfies asthey were getting ready, and it was where they had put the finishing touches ontheir attire before considering themselves as good as ready.
So how was it, after a day of using the mirror like it wasintended, all she had to do was step foot in the room for it to hit the groundand shatter, sending glass flying everywhere, into her belongings as well asthe last few things the other ladies had left in there. “Oh…that’s not good,”she managed to say, examining the damage as she hiked the front part of herperfectly white dress up, making sure she didn’t rip a single inch of thefabric with the glass that was now scattered all over the floor. “It must havecome loose somehow during the day, but for it to fall now of all times…”
“Was that the mirror?” Coming in behind her immediatelyafter the loud crashing sound had stopped ringing in Maribelle’s ears, Lissagasped when she saw the now-empty spot on the wall. “Gods, it was! Maribelle!That’s bad luck, you know that right?”
“I’m aware of it, although I don’t believe a word of that‘luck’ nonsense. We get what we deserve in life, and no objects can controlthat. Especially not a broken mirror.” Looking down at the largest piece of themirror that hadn’t shattered, Maribelle could see her reflection staring backat her, her heavily-painted face looking like a runway model or perhaps for acostume, but definitely not for the average person getting married. “Besides,if we’re going to speak of ‘luck’, then I think today would be considered myluckiest day alive anyway, any mirrors be damned!”
54. Any writing advice you want to share?
You’ll never get any writing done if you don’t tell yourself you have to write. Plotting’s great and all, but what’s a plot going to do for you if you never bring yourself to actually write! You may think you’re not good enough to write what you want to write--and that’s okay! Just keep writing until you’re at the point that you can write your dream story.
I’ve been writing fanfiction for 11+ years to better myself for the story in my head. You won’t improve overnight but you won’t improve at all if you don’t make an effort.
this is a hard ass question because i could probably find a way to justify every part being my favorite, but honestly i think stone ocean is my favorite just because i loved jolyne and foo fighters and also the end of the part just, like, Got Me or whatever. SBR is definitely a close second though because i really loved the way johnny and gyro are characterized
11: How did you get into JJBA?
i had been seeing gifsets of it all over while part 3 was first airing in like 2014 or whatever, and finally decided i wanted to watch it when the last couple eps of part 3 came out and everyone collectively shit their pants over DIO interrupting the opening in the last episodes, tho i didn’t get around to actually watching the anime until i visited my friends in seattle and we marathoned parts 1 and 2 together over the course of a week
