"Nekomata"
The Nekomata is a type of yōkai. Some believe it originates from the Senri yōkai. A cat that has lived for many years and transformed into its spirit form (according to one theory, after 20 years). While its appearance is fundamentally that of a regular cat, its most distinctive feature is its tail, which splits into two branches. Some specimens also possess notably large bodies or the ability to transform into humans. Their personalities vary widely, similar to humans. Some Nekomata are violent and cause harm to both animals and humans, while others possess gentle natures and even repay their original owners for their kindness.
