Sensoji Temple (浅草寺) is one of Tokyo’s oldest temple dating back to 628AD. The story when 2 young fishermen went out for fishing and a tiny statue of “Kannon” also known as Goddess of Mercy or Guan Ying 观音was caught on their fishing net. And then this temple was built to worship “The Goddess of Mercy”. But till date, the statue was kept in this temple but never seen by the public. Worshippers came here for blessings prayer from the Goddess.

However, I came here as a Photographer and Tourist perspective on their culture and attraction. In less than 8 mins walk from Asakusa Station, you will reached Sensoji Temple. Along the way, you could see many shops of display of Kimonos / Yukatas for rental to do a makeovers session. We gave it a miss. But had seen many people in Kimonos walking around and having photoshoot. Perhaps next time we can try this in Kyoto. Following the crowd, you will reached the main road of Kaminarimon Dori. On your right is the Asakusa Information Centre and opposite the road is the Kaminarimon Gate (Thunder Gate / 雷门）as the entrance of the Sensoji Temple. Within our sight, already many people were standing in front of the gate to take pictures. Below were some of the shots taken.
