Izuru and Kazuichi end up working together on island repairs thanks to the talent they share for all things mechanical. During this time Izuru notices that Kazuichi tends to skip meals in favor of something easier... like 300mg of caffeine. He's not sure why, but he starts preparing meals for Kazuichi. Then Kazuichi makes something, surprising, for him.

A. Legend? O//////O B. I've been meaning to try writing this pairing, I ended up writing two cause I wasn't satisfied with either ajdjwjjd

10. "I might have had a few shots."

73. "You don't have to stay."

Izuru readjusted Kazuichi, keeping his arm around his shoulders to support him as they walked.

He'd found him at his workshop, sitting on the floor with his back to the wall.

"You're drunk," Izuru had remarked.

"Yeah, might have had a few shots," Kazuichi sighed.

Izuru didn't know what compelled him to help Kazuichi home but… 

Of all the people he'd woken up with on the island, all of them different people now… not quite who they were before but no longer in despair… he found Kazuichi seemed to best understand.

The boredom, the isolation, the inability to label and identify emotions. Kazuichi must have felt the same way, because he tended to hang around. 

"Hang on… stop man, I think I'm gonna…" Kazuichi slid away from Izuru and took a few steps away to retch into the bushes.

"You overdid it," Izuru informed him.

"N-nah… I just have a weak stomach," Kazuichi chuckled. "My head's clearing up fine, you were just jostling me."

"Should I leave you here then?"

"If… if you want." Kazuichi failed to hide a nervous look. "You don't have to stay."

"..." Izuru helped to support Kazuichi again. "What compelled you to drink alone tonight?"

"Eh… I was kinda… feeling too much." He shook his head. "And not enough. You know?"

"I do."

"... hey, do you remember anything from the program?" Kazuichi asked. "Do you remember-"

"I'm not Hajime."

"No, I know." He smiled weakly. "I remember you from the Tragedy too. You guys are pretty different but…" 

Izuru waited for him to finish his sentence, and when he didn't he prompted him. "But?"

"... but I still wanna be your friend? Is that dumb?" Kazuichi was smiling, but he had tears in his eyes. "I… I don't get people, I just don't, but when I'm with you I feel halfway normal."

"..." They'd reached Kazuichi's cottage, and Izuru helped him inside. "I don't know how to do that sincerely. I can replicate social understanding, but I cannot-"

"No, I get it," Kazuichi chuckled. "That's fine. Just, wanna hang out sometime?"

"... okay."

Kazuichi moved away from Izuru and collapsed onto the couch. "... you still don't have to stay," he said.

Izuru sat down next to him, putting his feet up on the table with little regard for manners. "I know."

45. "I had a nightmare about you and I just needed to make sure you were okay."

Izuru woke to the sound of stifled crying, and while hearing crying from his partner was not uncommon, it was uncommon to hear it at night.

It was also uncommon to feel the sobs against his back.

"Kazuichi…"

Kazuichi stiffened, then pulled away, rolling over so that when Izuru sat up his face was hidden.

"..." Izuru stared at his back. "I won't go back to sleep if you're in distress."

"It's nothing," Kazuichi said. "Just...had a nightmare."

Izuru moved closer, wrapping his arms around Kazuichi and kissing the tip of his ear. "It wasn't real."

"I know. It just felt real. Wanted to make sure you were okay."

"Go back to sleep." Izuru kissed the top of his head now, curling around Kazuichi so that he would feel protected from all sides. 

Kazuichi didn't answer, but Izuru soon heard his breath returning to a slow and calm pace, indicating he was asleep.

"... you feel so much," Izuru sighed.

He fell asleep, fondly cradling the incurable crybaby in his arms.
