You stand on the battlefield, your friends looking at you uncertianly. It’s deathly quiet and you’re breath has been stolen a long time ago. The huge, black Sburb-logo house in front of you blinks, flickers, glitches like it has been for the entire game. 

Neomie takes your left side, and looks up. Her strife specibus is propped up on the ground, and she’s leaning on it, the gash in her right calf dying her pantleg red. 

You would help if you hadn’t been stabbed by Jaz’s deranged dog in the side. She makes her way up to you both, with scraps of Davlin’s ripped up cape as makeshift bandages. 

Black dots eat the edges of your vision, and you feel like you’re about to throw up. You take your blue hood off, wrap it tightly around your side. Jaz looks at you, shaking her head and rolling her eyes. “Why would you do that when Davlin gave up a good corner of her cape for this.”

Right. 

"Sorry, use them on Neomie, okay?" You roll your eyes and mutter, "she needs them more than I do," which is obviously not true but her life is worth much more than yours by now. 

Davlin sits by you, twisting her half-cape nervously in her arms. “Did we get them all?” 

And you shrug because you don’t know what else to say because you don’t know. 

This entire game has really just been about not knowing. Every session is different, and when that stupid webcomic updated for the last time and you clicked the fucking play button why did you do that, you four were the only ones who made it.

As far as you know. You have no idea what’s going on with earth, or earth’s universe, or where you even are. 

You don’t know if you’re in Alternia or what, if the sessions all have different universes, or if it’s all the same one.

You don’t know if the beta kids are here. (it would be so cool to meet them)

MOST IMPORTANTLY, you don’t know if Homestuck was even real, or if Hussie set up the whole comic to prep everyone because he knew it was coming. Or if he wanted to kill the entire human race and wanted a creative way to do it.

That was a success, then, Hussie. All but four.

Out of the entire Homestuck fandom, you four are the only ones left.

"Kate," Neomie says, elbowing you. Her eyes are on the Sburb house in front of you. You look up and the screens are completely black, except for one broken up word spanning across all of them. Each seperate screen has some chunk of the word, so if you look at the house as a whole, it says:

You can’t breathe. 

You can’t take your eyes off the screen. 

You honestly have absolutely no idea how the hell you did it but apparently you did.

The word convulses and shakes, blinks in and out of existance, and you know for a fact that the game is broken.

How do you get out? 

You feel Davlin’s eyes on you, and you catch them, mouth agape, shaking your head slightly because you know what she’ll ask.

And you have no idea.

"Dav," you start, "I-" 

Your breath is cut off. So is everyone else’s because you all colapse at the same time, your entire body is numb, and all you see is the sickly blue sky above you. You can’t turn your head. 

You’re paralyzed. 

You’re gone.

You’re sitting in your desk chair, hands on the keyboard, Skype window open, a chat with Jaz up. 

Your mind is numb. 

It’s a sticky summer afternoon and an empty plate is next to your laptop, hair up in a messy bun, tank top and your shortest shorts. You’re window’s open, the curtain blowing lazily and the medals hanging from the curtian rod clanking together. 

Your head turns out the window, and you see the sun peeking through the trees.

Normal.

You look the other way, and lying on your unmade bed is a dress and leggings. 

Blue.

The hood, too. The black hood.

And the gray symbol.

you leap out of your chair, step to the outfit, a small card is nestled in the top of the hood.
