Side B: Ashina!

A lil post to expand and explain on Kandy's Side B concept of Ashina!

First of all, Penny!

She would be all in to have a secret friend! Maybe she knows about mermaids, too! She would do her best to understand the notes and follow the crumbs around, especially if it helps find out about her missing parents!

But, you see... someone else is searching for them... someone who won't hesitate to throw hands to get the info he needs...

She knows about him. She knows about Numbuh 100. She knows about The Steve. But after some point...

She doesn't know anything about him anymore.

She'll have to be careful... He doesn't want Penny to find them first.

Second, Nigel!

So here's the thing: Nigel's always been a paranoid person who trusts no one if he doesn't have enough proof they are an ally. But an alien? A probable Galactic Operative? Someone who wants him to find secrets about his family?

She might need to work a bit harder to have him follow her clues.

Maybe Penny can serve one more purpose...

Third, Joey!

If Ashina is helping him with his abilities, he'll do anything to follow her teachings and be better! Especially if it's a cute cool alien wolf who knows ASL!!

But one moment... You mentioned his parents and Irwin, but...

Isn't there another person...?

Lou is in charge of everything and anything involving spies and secrets, from outer space, too. So Ashina might need to report to him every now and then...

This is what it feels like being an old idiot in a fandom of young and creative and talented youngsters.

Hello, small question.

For the Delightful Switch AU, did you go through with @numbuhinfinitys answer of your question?

The thing is, when I asked her about the whole crush thing, the AU was still a basic idea of "What if Sector Ʌ became the Delightful Children", without the whole "Irwin is Wally/Numbuh 4" thing or even the "Three Gays and a Mermaid" teen subplot.

We might have to discuss it again and take everything into consideration, from Irwin/Wally managing to get away from the Delightfulization (for the most part), growing up and having other tastes, to the idea of Reyna moving to Australia to stay with the others or just being heartbroken by how things evolved. WHO KNOWS!

All I know is that Reyna exists in the Side B version of this AU, which... maybe is the one where "Four Gays and a Mermaid" is canon... you know, the idea @kandykatz had!

We'll discuss it more in the future!!

Night-Day... Terrors? Wait...

Something's not... right...

One night, while running away from the monsters tormenting her in her sleep, Carol hears something... different.

A song.

A relaxing, sweet, comforting song.

All of a sudden, she realized no monster was around anymore. All those corrupted, horrifying versions of his friends... they were all gone. All that was left was that song filling the air.

She decided to follow the melody to find the source of the song, and finally, she found it: it was a... mermaid?

That looked really out of place... what was doing such a pretty creature in that land of nightmares?

It wasn't important, anyway. She sat down to listen to the melody, which calmed her, leaving her smiling.

She felt safe. She felt at home. She felt like... she didn't want to leave that place anymore.

She wanted to stay. Listen to the melody forever, getting lost in that feeling of safety and peace.

Did she ever meet that person, before? Not really... but who cared in that moment. She wanted to stay there with her forever...

And that's exactly what that creature wanted from the kid...

So she could eat her heart.

BUT!! I wanted to add some explanation to my last "Night-Day Terrors AU" post, explaining why "the creature" (I would call her Penny, but at this moment Carol doesn't know who she is, so we will call her that) is the way she is (yes, I am going with that explanation).

Tagging @kandykatz because that's their creation!

The creature appears to Carol as a beautiful, sweet mermaid with a charming, calming voice.

Since Carol is used to seeing her friends as monsters (and yeah, that's the whole point of the AU), the creature appears in that strange way because Carol still doesn't know who she is. At this point, we'll go with the fact that Penny is still 2-3 years old and unknown to the rest of KND since she hasn't joined the organization yet.

This way, seeing an unknown creature in a land of Nightmare will immediately get Carol's attention; first in a "this is not right" kind of way, then as a little light in a sea of terror.

Given her mental state, I assume Carol would hold onto anything that resembles safety and calm, something that would take her away from the anxiety and panic that world is giving her.

So, even if that creature is unknown, she will immediately take the chance for some peace.

Carol doesn't really hear the creature sing. All she hears is something that her mind translates into a common song. But the melody has no words and no distinct voice, it's just a mash of sweet, soft tunes, like droplets of water hitting thin metal, or the wind passing through chimes.

All these factors combined together, have the result that Carol immediately falls for the creature's trick. The creature waits for the prey to lower its defenses, but doesn't attack immediately. She keeps singing some more, to give the kid more time to fall and trust that little safety cage she's creating.

When she is sure that Carol won't escape, she slowly reveals her true nature, turning into a creepy siren, still going on with her song.

Carol won't realize what is going on because the creature has completely hypnotized her and made sure she thinks she's still in her own little safe world.

The only way Carol can survive is either she somehow snaps out of it or... someone saves her.
