Xiao was honestly surprised to be back, he hadn't expected to be saved by Rex Lapis, or by anyone. He was even more surprised by arms wrapping around him, and though he would usually protest it, or pull away, his need for comfort outweighed those options, so instead, after a minute of shock, he simply... Leaned into it.

He closed his eyes in an effort to stop any tears from escaping, releasing a shaky sigh as shivering hands raised up to wrap around the oni. It felt like they'd been down there for weeks, giving him more than enough time to get to know Itto better, and to start seeing him as something of a friend, even if that wasn't something he was ready to admit out loud.

Still, it was enough for him to accept physical contact from the other, and to even find comfort in it. He almost didn't want the hug to end. After all, the traveler was unaffected by his karma, and Itto was an oni, so, surely, being exposed to it for a bit wouldn't harm him. He really needed the hug, whether from the experiences in the chasm alone, or his general traumatized and touchstarved self, it didn't matter. And besides, he was entirely too exhausted to pull away.

“Hm, looks like I’ve got you~” the Oni purred as he’d since captured the retainer in his arms, nuzzling into Thoma’s neck to kiss into his pulse. “Anyway, mandatory break time. Think of it as a pomodoro, or something, heh.”

              for being as large as he is, the oni could certainly sneak about if he wanted to. thoma almost doesn't notice itto until he's upon him, startled just enough to drop his trusted feather duster atop the shelf he was meticulously cleaning. his mind quickly catches up to just who has him now securely in strong arms, thick like otogi trunks. thoma can't help the soft laugh that rises up his throat, a special warmth spreading throughout him that only comes when he's cradled in such a secure hold.

             itto certainly brightened any room he was in. thoma feels the infectious charm almost instantly.

             "i should scold you," he tuts, though there is no venom in tone. thoma is obviously joking, but he had been in the middle of cleaning, "but it just so happens i missed you..." hand raises to thread through itto's long locks, careful not to tug as he runs fingers through it, "just let me put my supplies away, then we can go get lunch. how does that sound?"

fingers creep around the outskirts of his hand, brush along the outer edge of palm that hints towards familiarity. it's been years since she first entrusted her feelings to onibaba, and ever since confiding in the grandmother, she's found solace in pursuing itto with less guilt. claws comb through the dips between knuckles and let her curl her hand around the back of arataki's, her snout nosing in against the back of his neck as she snakes in for an embrace from behind.

" slept relatively well thanks to you, i may have to remember those special words you uttered. . . what were they ?  i love you ? "  it's a taunt meant to rile him up and savor that same emotion it stirred within her hearing him admit to it. sinful and overwhelming, yet now she craved it all the more. maskless, lips kiss upon the back of nape, lets her underbite hook on as she bites lightly to tease distractible oni king.
