Agents of the Four Seasons: Ep 11

Bruh...how the hell is the country in this story still functioning with all the terrorists that infiltrated their security and government?

Well, Nagatsuki and Ishihara being traitors aside, this episode was mostly shocking twists and action with the start of emotional closure at the end.

However, let's discuss two topics I didn't include in last week's post.

One being hatred fueled by revenge. The other being perceived godhood.

Sakura coming to realize how selfish she's been this whole time just confirms all the analysis on her I did up to this point. But it's not hard to imagine (though probably through no intention of author herself) how much worse she could've turned out if Hinagiku literally died and never came back.

We all saw how Sakura desperately searched for her master during those 10 years, not even hesitating to get viciously brutal if someone stood in her way.

And how she's struggling to heal and move on in the present, still threatening to use violence for the smallest thing that can offend her. Not Hinagiku. Her.

Even though Hinagiku is eager and excited to meet Rosei, Sakura can't be happy for her master. In fact, Sakura wants to find any reason to attack Rosei or Itecho and Hinagiku has to tell her twice to not do that.

One reason why she targets Rosei all the time is probably because she's itching to hurt what is the easiest and nearest within reach.

Who she should be blaming is Kasai, the insurgents who took Hinagiku. But since the insurgents are hard to track down and also show no remorse for their actions, Sakura can't hurt them and get satisfaction out of it. Instead, she switches the blame to Winter, the original target of Kasai's attack. And therefore, Rosei.

By hurting something or someone, even if that blame is misplaced, Sakura feels like she's getting revenge for how the world hurt her.

She's eager to slash something, break something to relieve her anger. Except because she's been running on anger and hatred all this time, she's almost forgotten how to think and live rationally.

If Hinagiku never returned, Sakura would continue to go on hating the world. Hating it so much that after she had completely spiraled down into despair, she'd probably have no qualms about destroying it.

Now who does that sound similar to?

This crazy bitch. Misuzu Henderson.

It wasn't explained in the previous episode but besides losing her unborn child, Misuzu also had an abusive husband. Said abusive husband was also the cause of losing her baby during her pregnancy, I believe, which is what caused her psyche to break and ultimately led her to murder him by tying him up and having Mikami drown him.

Now, two truths can exist at the same time.

It's a tragic thing that she lost her child and had to endure a terrible spouse.

But her "broken mind" is no excuse for all the crimes she committed afterward. Including massacring a whole bunch of people, holding a 6-year old girl hostage, forcing that girl under threat to play pretend and grow plants for drugs and repeating the same thing all over again with another little girl ten years later.

To add another horrific note to that, Misuzu even tried to pimp Hinagiku out to some corrupt politician or high executive or whatever, hoping to sire the next Agent through that method.

This wasn't explained in the anime either, probably because it wouldn't have passed through the censor if there was mention of r*pe. But yea, what wasn't allowed to be said on tv was perhaps substituted by this visual of a bed and Hinagiku escaping the room. This was the last straw that effectively broke her and caused her original personality to die.

It's so awful.

Misuzu's already crossed so many moral event horizons but this one quadruple time proves that she's utterly batshit INSANE.

She had become so twisted by how life mistreated her (or rather, further warped cuz she already came from a criminal background) that she aimed to get back at it by "changing" (wrecking) the world.

How was she going to do that? By taking control of god.

And the closest things to god this country has? The Agents of the seasons.

Misuzu hated her own weakness, her own lack of ability to protect herself against her misfortunes. From that, she concluded she cannot be weak. And how not to be weak?

By gripping those with power by the hair and forcing them to obey her. This way, she will always be at the top of the order where few can hurt her. If she could control god, it meant she was above god.

And through that, she could hurt the world she hates so much and get her revenge as much as she wants.

Imagine if Sakura turned out like that. If Hinagiku wasn't there to be her living emotional crutch.

Sakura admitted she herself was weak and can only be strong for Hinagiku, the master who she practically worships as god.

If you break the person at the severest angle you can break them, what kind of monster would sprout forth?

Fortunately, it would never happen. At least not in this story for these characters (I hope).

And it's good that we're finally seeing them get closure after a decade of agony and guilt.

All thanks to Hinagiku, who is so brave in choosing to move forward.

The words of gratitude she gave Itecho were so bittersweet yet heartwarming. He'll never stop beating himself up over how he couldn't protect them that day.

But hearing that Hinagiku doesn't blame him and still affectionately calls him "Onii-sama"...it must have saved his tormented soul, relieved him of a lot of his ongoing grief in some deep way.

The person he believed should hate him doesn't hate him. She still cares about him and wants to know if he's okay. And finally, he was able to thank her for saving his life back then.

Hinagiku is helping him open his own path to move forward as well.

As for Rosei, their first contact after so long could've gone better. But alas, being a god incarnate means you don't have that luxury to do even the simplest things peacefully.

It's understandable why Rosei went into shock, though. He hasn't met Hinagiku yet so while he's aware that her old personality had died and has logically accepted the situation, he hasn't prepared himself to emotionally accept her "death" yet.

That could only be done when he confirms it himself in person. When they're speaking face to face, so that he could get a good look at who Hinagiku is now and process the loss of his first love.

The phone call came when adrenaline was running high with assassins gunning for him, too, so he was in no proper state to hear what he wasn't ready to hear yet.

Oh, and then that explosion happened right after, making it worse.

But thanks to Itecho's inner Rengoku-san channeling Tanjiro's headbutt intervention, Rosei regained his senses pretty quickly so they can go do what they kept on saying they were going to do since the beginning.

"We have to protect the Spring girls!"
