one thing that is better in the German translation of lotr is Shelob's name: Kankra just sounds like a massive spider. I like the whole chapter so much it might be one of my favourites, the cold fear and hatred that comes from her is written in such a tangible way

I‘m rewatching The Return of the King and am realizing just how NOT Shelob is helping the arachnophobia.

What I adore about the shelob chapter (I love the German name kankra more) is that it actually feels like a horror chapter. I mean, I am scared of spiders, let alone a giant one. But you can just feel the cold hatred and greedy hunger of her through the pages that she really feels like an old entity.

Shelob is called Kankra in the German version of Tolkien's works and honestly, it fits so much better than Shelob
