Savannah Ruiz-Rivera, a student who claims she suffered spinal injuries when she fell from a balcony after a night of partying, is suing York College, three fraternities and a sorority.
In addition to the college, defendants in the case are the Phi Kappa Psi, Kappa Delta Phi and Zeta Beta Tau fraternities and the Sigma Delta Tau sorority, to which Ruiz-Rivera belonged.
"you'll never understand how much a sisterhood means until you're in one" -- my sorority sister
this is 100% true. if you would have asked me 5 years ago if i would join a sorority when i went to college, i'd probably tell you that you're nuts. when i started my education at UMFK, i grew close to a handful of friends, and through them and their neighbors is how i got interested in joining the sorority. it was the only greek organization on campus (excluding our brother fraternity), and it was a really small school. we have about 1200 students, including online students. it's what i'm used to, a small town environment. through rushing, i decided i liked it more and more. i got in a little trouble with my parents, but they didn't forbid me from joining. i became a sister on 12/08/2010. it will forever be a day that i remember. since joining, we have done countless philanthropies and fundraisers, as well as our semi-annual blacklight party, which is always a hit. we have bonded as a sisterhood and we have become a well known group on campus. i've actually had to move home so i haven't been able to be a part of anything this semester, which upsets me greatly. not all sororities and fraternities are like the ones you see in movies - partying, raving, drinking, smoking, drugs, etc. - we actually care about our image to the public and our campus community and we take our studies very seriously. we are one of the only sororities that has a brother fraternity with the same letters, except we have NAS after ours. i've met so many brothers and sisters since joining nearly three years ago and i wouldn't change that for the world. a few of our beloved members have passed away, one of our eldest brothers, and one of our most-involved sisters. it is tough sometimes, but you just gotta learn to go with the flow and life doesn't last forever.

Decided to twist it a bit & make it funny.
a goodbye and hello
2011 was and is my year. so much i can and could say about this year. from smoking for the first time to just enjoying the sun with my good friends. i also love the fact that i got such good new friends in college that are so accepting and just like me. got my first and second tattoo in this year. heck i even lost my virginity this year. yea i've lost contacts with some of my old friends sadly but you've just given me so much more happiness that i can so overlook that a bit. 2011 is so my year because you've also given me a bigger family support. that new family support is my fraternity brothers that i care for dearly. kappa delta phi! not only a bigger family but a stronger bonds have been made for those who've i have been in contact with continuously. my mother and i have been so great to each other. the compassion and understanding we have for one another has exceeded that far beyond i would ever think. it's gotten to the point where we don't yell at each other at all. and we are always able to just sit and talk things out. you gave me also a bit of a stronger connection to my father. who may be not winning any father of the year award but has also shown he's changing for the better. just awhile back he gave props to my mom, who he loathes quite much, for always being their to support us financially and etc. when he couldn't. he's talking to me much more than ever which was the major reason why we couldn't communicate well. 2011 this year has been so filled with responsibility and owning up to ones actions too that i can almost honestly say i am become more of a respectable man. 2011 if i could sum it up in two words i'd probably say fun and love. cause that is all this year has been about. now 2012 is around the corner and i plan on taking the bulls by the fucking horn! with such great progression i've made with 2011 i plan on continuing this for 2012. now grant it that i shouldn't say some of my new years resolution would be but all i can say is this. 2012 i'll make you my slave/bitch for i shall be your master!
My housemate wants me to rush for this asian sorority with her
And they only accept "pretty" asian girls. Like she wants me to rush just for the fun of it and see if we can get in. Like dude, I don't have the confidence for that.
