Following the massacre at Karabor, Gul’dan had the surviving draenei clerics marched out of the temple and told that they were to be taken to Hellfire Citadel as prisoners of war. Teron Gorefiend, then known as Teron’gor, slaughtered every single draenei cleric where they stood in cold blood, right in front of the holy temple. Their ghosts continue to roam the area to this day [Quest: Divination: Gorefiend’s Cloak].

Although the Iron Horde never mounted a successful attack on Karabor during Warlords of Draenor, they did capture a number of draenei over the course of the expansion. Yrel, who studied and grew up in the Temple of Karabor, was taken prisoner and sent to Tanaan, where she would later be freed by the player character [Quest: Yrel, Website: World of Warcraft: Yrel]. Since most of Karabor’s clerics were slain in the main universe, it’s possible that the main universe version of Yrel, if she ever existed, died in the invasion of Karabor or afterward with the clerics. Fortunately, because the destruction of alternate universe Karabor was averted by Azeroth’s forces, Teron Gorefiend never murdered the clerics, leaving important draenei like Yrel alive.
