She’s always been fond of them. Even though a part of her knew that the water smelled like shit, the sand was gritty, and the sun too bright – she liked it anyway. On school trips or family vacations, she always came back with a sunburn, sand in her shoes, and stringy, wet hair. 

Kilgrave took her to a beach once. Because he’d asked her what she liked to do in the summer, and she had no choice but to tell him. They went, but only stayed an hour. He hated it, all of it, never even touched the water. At the time, she was upset they were leaving, but now she’s glad, because it’s one less place he hasn’t ruined entirely.
