MCU Femship Week | Day 6: Family | Kara Lynn Palamas and Melinda May
(this series also counts as sapphic aesthetics)
I really do appreciate the way these days were themed to include platonic relationships, but here’s the thing. In an AU fair game zone especially, I just really, really want to celebrate wlw content because there’s not enough of it. Also if anyone could know anyone, I assume most of them could be on good terms (within the parameters of protagonists/antagonists/etc.). So for today’s entry, you get an AU that shares a lot of themes with canon but is tweaked to fit the theme of the day and also has a happy ending. Kara is a mild-mannered historian, let’s say, and the recent bride of a certain evil man (we all know who I mean). Melinda is his ex-wife, a former cop turned martial arts instructor, and Kara has never heard anything good about her. The divorce was messy. But Kara soon figures out why: surprise, surprise, the man is an abusive asshole. She walks out on him as soon as possible, but she doesn’t really have a lot of friends in this town (he moved her here, to his hometown, without even asking what she’d rather, which should have been the first clue) and in a panic, she calls the one person she knows will see her side of the story, who of course is Melinda, for help. The ex-wife of my soon-to-be ex-husband, she figures, is sort of family, in a twisted way. Luckily Melinda is willing to protect Kara and help her get out of the marriage as unscathed as possible, and at first it’s just sympathy because she knows where the younger woman has been, having been there herself, but (did you expect anything else?) eventually it turns into something more, and by the time they’ve moved together to a new, better town, they’re not even pretending they need two separate beds.
Say it with me everybody: Women! Protecting! Women!

AoS Ladies Appreciation Weeks ♀ Day Fourteen: Free Choice ↳ rainbow
au meme (otherwise known as shameless wish fulfillment)
Bobbi’s been with the Shieldmaidens for years, equal parts brains and brawn, and she’s very much the ride or die sort. She’s also a softer touch than it seems, so when the opportunity arises to help Kara out of a shit relationship with a member of a rival gang she takes it gladly. At first she’s just helping Kara get used to a life where she doesn’t have to worry about every little thing, where she can be herself; then she’s helping welcome Kara, who’s got an unsurprising ferocious streak and a desire for both social justice and revenge, into the gang; then just like that they’re falling for each other in a way that neither of them can properly articulate but everyone else pretty well sees coming.
