Domesticity Question Meme
** I did this meme a long time ago for oikage (here), but my characterization for Oikawa + the ship has changed so drastically since then that it was worth revisiting. (tbh it NEEDS revisiting; some of those answers.... smh @ past self) (other answers I totally basically copy-paste) ]]
How did they first kiss?Oikawa doesn't place much value in kisses, so he doesn't think twice about kissing Kageyama in order to rile him up. (It works.) (It also gets Kageyama to let go of the throw pillow, which was Oikawa's entire goal.)
Who flirts more?Oikawa. O i k a w a. And Kageyama hates it. It really wouldn't be so bad if HE was the one Oikawa was flirting with.
How did the relationship start? It's definitely one of those "one thing led to another" relationships. There isn't a single definite moment when they "started dating", so much that there was this gradual mutual invasion of each other's space. It finally reached a "breaking point" when Oikawa was talking about a new cafe and dating locations and Kageyama said "I'll go with you."
How did they start living together? Do they move? How do they choose the place? Not much has changed from my old answer. They start living together before they start dating. Kageyama contacted Oikawa after he graduated from Karasuno to look for apartment finding advice, since he was planning to attend the same university Oikawa had. One of Oikawa's roommates had ditched them at the end of the last semester, so he told Kageyama that he had an open room.
Do they have roommates? For a while they do have another roommate, but once he moves out they decide that, instead of looking for a new person to fill the space, they'd just downsize and move into a smaller two-bedroom apartment.
Do they get married (or equivalent)?Nope.
Do they have kids? They do not. It’s for the better.
Do they have pets?Kageyama wants a pet, but they have yet to find one who wants him. (Also the landlord says no.)
Do they act different in public and at home?In public, Oikawa is a lot more loud and... touchy? He's more playful. He's a lot more sedated at home. Kageyama's a lot more receptive to Oikawa's actions at home than he is in public.
Big spoon/little spoon?Oikawa is aggressively the big spoon. He refuses to allow himself to little spoon to Kageyama of all people and tends to just drag Kageyama into his arms when settling down.
Sleeping habits?Oikawa's sleeping habits are absolute shit. Kageyama's are very regular and systematic. Regardless of when Oikawa goes to sleep (if he goes to sleep at all), he usually wakes up at the same time as Kageyama does.
Favorite non-sexual activity? They jog together in the mornings. It's very relaxing, especially since Oikawa is still too tired to talk for at least the first half.
Favorite sexual activity?Oikawa is rather fond of giving handjobs and blowjobs, and Kageyama isn't exactly going to complain.
How often do they have sex?(distant laughing)When the mood strikes them, which, tbh, isn't often. Sex is most definitely Not A Thing during volleyball season though.
What habits of the other drives them crazy?Kageyama hates how, even after Oikawa confirms that yes, they are dating, he still flirts with other people. Oikawa constantly finds reasons to complain about the little things Kageyama does in an incredibly petty matter. Like how he arranges the dishes in the dishwasher.
How often do they fight?Often. They don't really have serious fights, but they have a lot of fights about Volleyball Opinions that leave them both sour and avoiding each other for the night. I said they weren't serious, but I lied. They're very serious. Just not about serious stuff.
Most trivial thing they fight over?Volleyball opinions. High school alma mater pride. Pretty much everything they fight over.
Who uses all the hot water?Oikawa. Jury is still out on whether he does it on purpose or not, but he definitely makes a point of getting in the shower first.
Who does most of the cleaning?Neither of them. They try to split the chores evenly, but Oikawa ends up shoving most of his housework onto Kageyama. Then he complains about the results, Kageyama tells him to do it himself next time, Oikawa says he will, and then.... rinse and repeat.
What do they watch on tv and do they fight for the remote? They don't often fight over the remote. They watch volleyball together, and aside from that their preferred programming hours are separate enough that their isn't much overlap. Oikawa gets his dramas and alien documentaries, Kageyama gets his Animal Planet documentaries, everyone wins.
Who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working?Oikawa does, usually before Kageyama even notices to comment on it.
Who answers the phone?Oikawa.
Who steals the blankets? They fight for them. I would say Oikawa, but that's mostly because Oikawa goes to bed later, usually, and takes them after Kageyama is already asleep.
Who remembers things?Oikawa remembers everything. The trick is getting him to admit it.
Who does the groceries? They take turns going shopping, but when it's Kageyama's turn Oikawa makes him very specific, very detailed shopping lists.
Who cooks normally? They usually eat out/have take-out/eat leftovers. But when it comes to cooking, they both tend to "cook" for themselves. (Cooking is a loose word, because it's usually microwaveable food or pre-cooked meals.)
Who leaves their stuff lying everywhere?Oikawa does. So does Kageyama, but it's to a lesser extent.
What kind of stuff can be found around their place?Textbooks. Socks. Volleyball magazines. Jackets thrown over every available surface. Probably a carry-out box. Bag of volleyballs by the door.
What do their cupboards or shelves look like?Filled with grab-and-go type snack foods. Protein bars, mini packages of fruity gummies, small bags of chips, single-serve ramen and macaroni cups… The fridge isn't much better off.
What does their closet(s) look like? They keep separate closets. In Oikawa’s, all shirts are on hangers, while all pants are "folded" and put in a drawer. When something is taken off its hanger, Oikawa takes down the hanger and tosses it in a pile. In Kageyama’s, there are a ton of unused hangers and most of his clothes end up haphazardly folded and shoved into drawers, with very few things actually hung up (mostly bulkier things, like jackets, or fancier things, like nice slacks or shirts, at Oikawa's insistence).
What do they do when they’re away from each other?Oikawa texts Kageyama constantly. Granted, he texts everyone else constantly too, so... Kageyama doesn't initiate any contact, but he always answers Oikawa.
Do they have nicknames or pet names for each other?Oikawa makes a habit of coming up with gross, overly affectionate nicknames for Kageyama. Kageyama hates it. On the flipside, Kageyama took months to stop calling him Oikawa(-san), so forget pet names.
How do they refer to the other in public? how do other people refer to the other? (i.e. “my partner”, “ask your father”, ”dad and papa”, ”how’s your wife?”, etc)Oikawa refers to Kageyama as his boyfriend, mostly to get a reaction out of him. Other than that, the other is usually just referred to by name.
Who is more likely to pay for dinner? They split the tab. Depending on what they got, it's Oikawa who suggests whether they "split evenly" or "pay for themselves".
How often do they go on dates?Fairly often. Oikawa likes to go out, and he drags Kageyama along for the ride. Probably about once a week, at least, excluding during finals week.
Typical date night? Out or at home?Usually they’ll go out first, either to a movie or dinner. Take a walk together afterward, and then return home to cuddle.
Do they celebrate birthdays, valentine’s day, anniversaries?Kageyama forgets. Oikawa does obnoxious things.
What would they get each other for gifts?Kageyama gets REALLY REALLY practical things for Oikawa. Really boring and domestic. Like socks. Or food. Oikawa finds it hilarious.Oikawa gets him chocolates (which he eats half of) or passive-aggressive things ("I got you this so you would stop using mine").
How do they spend Christmas and New Year’s (or equivalent family gatherings)? They go their separate ways for family gatherings. It's not a huge deal to either of them, even if Kageyama's parents are really curious about their baby's boyfriend.
Who cusses more?Kageyama. Oikawa doesn't swear, while Kageyama learned from Iwaizumi in middle school.
What would they do if the other one was hurt?Panic. They would both panic. Oikawa would be more likely to have a meltdown over it, though, while Kageyama would be more likely to have misplaced anger over it.
What are little gestures they do for each other?Nothing particularly noteworthy, they do the standard little gestures of passing things without being asked or moving things out of the other’s way.
Do they know how the other takes their coffee/tea?Oikawa does. Kageyama tries, but Oikawa does something sliiightly different every single time. (He’s pretty sure Oikawa is doing it on purpose.) (He is.)
Do they feel they see each other enough, or do they have activities that take too much of their time?Sometimes they feel like they see each other *too* much.
Do they friend/follow each other on facebook / tumblr / livejournal / skype / etc?Yes. Though Oikawa is the only one who actually uses the social media. Kageyama just has them because everyone expects him to.
Morning routine? They usually wake up together when Kageyama's alarm goes off. They both brush their teeth and go for a jog, and usually pick up some kind of breakfast while they're out. Oikawa takes the shower first while Kageyama eats, and then they trade off. Pretty boring, frankly.
How do they make up after a fight? After the anger subsides, they both sort of awkwardly tiptoe around the matter for a while. Oikawa tends to remain upset for longer, because he's the type to be petty and hold a grudge, and usually Kageyama ends up apologizing first just to get it over with, because obviously Oikawa isn't going to and he just wants things back to normal.
|| A vaguely Kagetsukki story about a monochrome life ||
The aspirations on the aspired tomorrow is in front of his eyes
But his heart only noticed the sad face of that [person]
I live in a monochrome world. Everything is grey and drab, and everyone at first glance may look different, but all our hearts and souls are the exact same, programmed only to live in this ‘utopia’, and to never oppose the peaceful system of equality set out in front of us. The life I lead is meaningless; getting on a train in the morning to a facility, getting on a train back home. Everyone always speaks that this life suits us so well, but I always feel a sense of boredom and hatred for this world.
Today again I board the train, headphones on but with nothing to plug it into and shades of black and white everywhere. As if mocking me, the announcer says something about clear, sunny skies. I can say nothing, and only sit in silence amongst the rest of them, the ones who are supposed to be the same as me.
At the facility today, I saw colour. There’s a new worker, and his hair is a deep, almost royal sort of shade unknown to me. He knows what he’s doing and is precise with all his actions, but something about him says that he isn’t happy with what he has to do. The person who performs the routine checks and scans on me then nods, and I’m escorted out to the train station.
For the first time, I feel a warm feeling form inside of me.
The next day, he’s there again. He’s performing checks like the rest of them do, making sure that everyone is perfect and peaceful, but his cheeks aren’t grey like yesterday. His face is a beautiful pale colour and today, I feel the warm feeling grow.
As I get on the train, I see a few more people are ushered onto a different track. A jealous feeling rises up inside of me; how can they get to go to a different place? They get to see different things, while I’m stuck doing the same thing again and again! But before I can do anything about it, the doors rush closed and I stare at the distant disappearing station as the train rushes off.
Days (or weeks) later, he is the one to check me. He asks my name, which I respond to with the one I was given. Watching him scribble Kei onto the white screen, I found that more colours were surrounding him, colours that weren’t shades of grey but vibrant and amazing. I wanted to touch them, to touch him. He was the change in this cold world. And because of that, I asked the first question of my own accord.
What’s your name?
He looks up, surprised, before replying cautiously.
Tobio.
Even his voice is full of colour, and I fall back, letting him examine and check me as usual. Tobio writes down something else, and then I’m escorted out to the same tracks again. As I sit on the train, I test the sound of his name on my lips.
Days pass, and Tobio becomes something like a permanent examiner. Everyday I look forward to coming so I can see his colours and hear his voice. His face looked slightly sad though, and with every passing day he looked more hollow. I wanted to comfort him, but I would be taken to the tracks before I could even open my mouth.
One day, I’m escorted to a different pair of tracks that seemed to go in a different direction. I almost couldn’t contain how happy I was. Finally, I got to go to see different things! I was going to have a change from drab, grey scenery and I would have new experiences! As I was taken onto the train and put into an empty carriage, I saw Tobio.
He was crying, grey tears that looked wrong on his colourful face. He looked at me sorrowfully, and I couldn’t understand why. He didn’t need to be sad, I was finally having the change I wanted. I had thought that seeing the colours he brought was all the change I needed, but this was my true wish. The train doors closed, and I sat alone on it, going into the unknown.
Along the ride, I thought about Tobio. I thought about how his colour was the best thing I had seen in my life, and how warm he made me feel. I always felt a need to touch or hold him. He made me feel something else other than contempt and boredom. The train rumbled on towards an towering, undefined building. Before I entered the large skyscraper, I saw a large sign with a word I had no understanding of, nor had I seen it before.
Happy Birthday| Verse:Soulmates. Closed RP with Karasuno-ou
Hinata jumped onto the bed, smiling widely as he shook Kageyama awake. On the bedside table, a tray had been placed with enough breakfast for two. It had become a ritual after the first few years of failed attempts, and thankfully he had gotten far better with practice. By this point it was edible... one might even go as far as to say, pleasurable.
