Dinner at Yang’s Dumpling, Karawara. Shanghai Xiaolongbaos (aud8.80); Pan-fried pork buns (aud9.80); BBQ Pork rice (aud14) and Crispy spring onion pancake (aud5). Would only recommend their signature namesake pan-fried pork buns which were crispy on the outside and filled with piping hot soup on the inside (they’re still not as good as the original ones in Shanghai but the best of its kind we can get here in Perth). Xiaolongbaos weren’t that bad but they’re really oily and filled with lots of fatty bits. The rich and flavoursome broth with crispy fried pork lard was really satisfying and comforting for the cold winter nights now. The KL chilli pan mee had a good spicy kick and the poached egg was done perfectly gooey. Had it with the default round noodles. Didn’t realise they have different noodle types - will be back to try the thick and torn noodle types. Curry Chee Cheong Fun’s texture was soft and the curry sauce was quite tasty. Hakka mee is soft and marketed for kids - the friendly lady warned us of the minimal ingredients and that it was more for kids but I insisted to try it regardless. INVITED // Cheese Bul Dak: spicy chicken pieces grilled Korean style with melted cheese on a bed of onions (aud25); Seafood Jeon (pancake) aud17.50; Beef Bulgogi (aud18); Korean crushed pear (aud4) and Yuzu Ade (aud5.50) from Seoul Delish, Waterford Plaza, Karawara. Look at that cheese pull of the cheese Bul Dak! Thanks Chef Melvin for reducing the spiciness for us without us asking. 🙊 Beef Bulgogi was an additional dish whipped up by Chef Melvin last-minute. Tender stir-fried marinated sliced beef with assorted vegetables. Washed down with the refreshing Korean crushed pear drink and their house-made Yuzu-ade (bit too sweet for me personally). INVITED // BBT: PANDAN & MOMOCHACHA 🇲🇾🌱 // Chatime has launched two seasonal coconut-milk based flavours - PANDAN with sago and MOMOCHACHA with rainbow jelly, rose syrup (Bandung) and sago; aud6.95 each. From today till 5 October 2020! Love the Pandan flavour as it’s fragrant and without added sugar. The drink was sweet and very easy to drink - reminds me of the honeydew sago dessert but with pandan. The Momochacha is inspired by the Nyonya Bubur Cha Cha dessert. It is fragrant with Bandung (rose syrup). This was sweeter in comparison to the pandan - and the sweetness level for this is customisable. Such a fun launch event with grazing platters and cupcakes guessing the two flavours.
