Karedevil Creators Week rec post ! PART 1

This is by no means exhaustive. I just want to participate in this, but I don’t have much time, so I’ll be forgetting some. 

One thing to know is that I never read if I am in a writing streak or if I am not sure to be able to leave a comment, because all that work always deserves love. This explain why I’m SOOOOOOO late in reading everyone’s stuff, and why this will not feature a lot. 

Here are a few fics I want to rec to all readers, in no particular order : 

A Winter’s Tale by @trombonesinspace  I know this one has been recced a lot, but what can I say ? Maybe that it had such an emotional grasp on me that I had to stop reading before I reached the last posted chapters, and I haven’t found the time to go back to it yet, but I’m burning to. This is how good this AU is.  I have yet to read other fics from @trombonesinspace, but after tryng this one I know it’s going to be great. 

To Be Human by @qs63 If anyone had told me I would read an AU where Matt and Karen had a child and that I would LOVE IT, I would have laughed at them. It’s really not something that I would have tried. And yet. It’s perfect. I love it. There’s Matt and Karen being (struggling) parents, there’s lots of characters I love popping up, and there’s a goddamn strong plot going on. A+. Perfect. Gimme more.  Talking about more do yourself a favour and read the rest of @qs63‘s fics, thanks. 

A Thousand Rainy Days by @irelandhoneybee There are a lot of gems in @irelandhoneybee‘s works, but I think this one is my favourite. It’s so cozy, something we rarely see with characters in Daredevil, yet so true to the characters. I’m also reading Carry Your Heart currently and enjoying it very much !!! 

Heroes for Hire by @littledidtheyknow​  It might be a strange choice among all the awesome fics in @littledidtheyknow‘s work, but this one stuck with me. I loved how you wrote their meeting this way (this is an AU) and how they flirt with each other there. There are so many still for me to read in your works ! awh !!! Lucky me :D

I am incredibly sorry not to be able to participate more in the creators week. All I see is love and I just want to send some back too because you’re all awesome.

I was so happy when @bubblesinapocket (formerly steelorchids) said she would be a part of Creators Week.  She is such a good writer, and deserves all the love.  She started writing fairly recently, but you’d never know it, her fics are so good, and she has a knack for writing “missing/extended” scenes that go a little deeper than what we see onscreen, as well as completely original stories.

Just a few of my favorites :

12 Midnight, which I think might actually be my favorite of hers.  Matt and Karen have a big date night planned for New Year’s Eve but their plans end up going a little awry, which leads them both to thinking back about moments in their relationship and how far they’ve come.  And there’s dancing, so I mean, come on.  I just love this one. 

Wish We Had One More Kiss this one is so sweet, about Matt having to get up early and Karen trying to convince him to stay in bed.  Domestic Karedevil.  It’s awesome.  

I See You this one is short and sweet about Matt waiting for Karen to arrive to enter a fancy party, and they’re so adorable, and everything is so new between them and it’s just the cutest.  

Reveal(s) is a continuation of Matt’s big reveal, this one inspired by the Coldplay song “The Scientist” (which I swear could have been written about Karedevil.  Is Chris Martin a Karedevil shipper??)  Steelorchids does an amazing job with the emotions they’re both feeling.  *sobs*

I’m With You I LOVE this one about Karen having a nightmare and Matt soothing her back to sleep.  *happy sigh* It’s so sweet and part of her Karedevil cuddles series (which we need more of, no pressure @bubblesinapocket)

And last but not least, she also writes fantastic meta, like this one she just did last week.  I love her analysis here and think it’s spot on

She is an amazing person and friend, and if you are not familiar with her fics, (she’ll make fun of me for saying this): do yourself a favor and read them

Karedevil Creators Week

The event has started two days ago and as I'm finally starting to catch up I want to say...

Every single person in this squad is sooo talented -it's ridiculous, I'm telling ya- but most of all everyone is so kind, supportive and positive. And to me that's even more important. Lifting each other up and appreciating each other's work. That's it. That's the squad for me.

I'm always blown away by everyone's creativity and vision, every single time a new work is posted. That's why I can't use any other tag when I reblog all the amazing creations: #talented friends.

What general area do you live in? Northern Illinois How long have you been in the DD/Defenders fandom? I think about 3 years

What is your favorite thing about Karedevil? I think the thing I love most about them is how they bring out the best in each other. They make each other want to be better people, while at the same time accept each other for who they are (season 3 did WONDERS for their relationship; they had both been terrified of letting each other see the darkest parts of themselves, but both were met only with acceptance). Ending it there before this turns into a ten-page essay.

How many Karedevil WIPS do you have? One posted, one unposted

What do you look for in a story? I’m pretty easy to please. If it’s Karedevil (or a Nelson, Murdock and Page story), I *will* read it. Everyone I read has an excellent grasp on the characters, so I don’t care what situation they’re put in; if it is true to the character I am going to enjoy your story.

What is a fun fact about yourself? I live in the same town that the movie Groundhog Day was filmed.

How many times do you think you’ve watched the show(s)? Probably at least 4 times (seasons 1 and 2), still have to do a rewatch of season 3. Soon!!!

What other fandoms have you/ do you participate in? I’m a total mixed bag. The Beatles, Jane the Virgin, MCU movies, Jane Austen, Romancelandia

How do you come up with ideas for creations? It often just starts with what I’d like to see. I’ll get an idea like, “how would Matt ask Karen to move in with him”, and then I just kind of fill in the blanks. Once in a while, I’ll have a line of dialogue and write something around that, but more often then not it’s basically just “here’s how I picture *this* scenario going down”, and then writing it.

What are your favorite creations that you’ve made?

Something Always Brings Me Back to You; I was just very happy with how this one turned out; this was/is the most angsty thing I’ve written, of a grief-stricken, Post-defenders Karen going to church to light a candle for Matt

I’m Never Close Enough to Say; this one was just fun to write and came unbelievably quickly, it’s post-season 1, pre-season 2 about Karen going back to the Nelson & Murdock office after a bad date, where Matt is working late and had been trying to ignore how much Karen being out on a date is bothering him

You Are Mine to Keep Warm; this one was also a blast to write; the city gets hit with a blizzard, so they figure it’s the perfect excuse not to do any work. Most of my stuff tends to be established relationship, and I loved coming up with various things they would do on a snow day stuck in Matt’s apartment.

What is your DDS4 wishlist? Nelson, Murdock & Page getting up and running, Matt working to find balance in his two lives, more Bullseye, more Sister Maggie, and of course….Matt and Karen (in my head, it would definitely still be a slow burn, with them falling for each other all over again but scared to do anything about it, until they just can’t not be together)

What are your top characters from the Defenders in order: Matt Murdock, Karen Page, Foggy Nelson

Do you have any advice for other creators? Nothing but just create/write/draw/whatever more Karedevil! It seems like we’re a small corner of the fandom, but we are a very passionate fandom, and there will always be an audience for Karedevil

What are your favorite kinds of prompts? Any prompt you want to give me! I do tend to write more established relationship/happy Karedevil which I know is not everyone’s cup of tea, but if that *is* your jam, please hit me up anytime. I’m also happy to take meta questions.
