༄ After their match, Kareina and Tenya lounged by a vending machine. A comfortable silence, occasionally being broken by the clinking of cans as the two recuperated.
༄ Tenya was the first to speak up, commending Kareina on his form, his control of his quirk, and acknowledging his strength.
༄ Seeing Kareina it in action was one thing, but to face him himself proved to be a worthwhile challenge.
༄ This opened the metaphorical floodgate as Kareina returned the praise tenfold. Their match was just as fulfilling, and he found himself having the time of his life matched against Tenya's speed and power.
༄ Their promise to hold nothing back made today one they'd never forget. Tenya stood before Kareina, holding his hand out, and a look of determination in his eyes.
༄ Kareina reached out, the two firmly shaking hands. "Congratulations on the win." Tenya said with pure respect.
༄ Tenya looked forward to competing with his newfound rival and Kareina did as well.
During the sports festival, Kareina and Tenya face off in the Quarter-Finals. Both have decided they'll be the ones to move on and refuse to hold back.
༄ The crowd roars with excitement as Kareina and Tenya fight. Present Mic's commentary only inciting more cheers for both of them to erupt in the stadium.
༄ Kareina's mother watches her son while working as crowd control in the stadium, pride showing in her face as she takes in all the years of practice her son put in for this moment.
༄ Kareina's grandparents, mainly his grandfather, are cheering him on and frightening their seat neighbors with their excitement.
༄ Tenya's family is watching in support, all of them watching with anticipation of what Tenya would do next to best his competitor.
༄ As the match nears its end, both of them are exhausted and ready to drop. Muscles aching, hearts pounding, and bodies weak, but they kept going until only one of them remained.
The jostling of the train lulled some of the nerves Kareina had been feeling. Bile lingered at the bottom of his throat; he hoped a pleasant distraction would rid him of this uneasiness.
It refused to fade, but subsided enough that he could think clearly about why he was so tense. U.A.was a competitive school; it was difficult to secure admission, pushing its students to their absolute limits, and produced some of the world's best-known heroes. Kareina had already passed the entrance exams and proved he earned his spot, so why did it feel like he couldn’t accept it? Whether it was because he was overthinking or the upcoming Sports Festival, which loomed just a week ahead, was the cause, he knew he had to address the issue. For now, he just wanted to feel like a normal person. To have a moment to himself so he could enjoy the time off he had from training and being in class.
The murmuring of fellow passengers in the railcar felt like roaring beratement. U.A. broadcasts the sports festival live for all of Japan to see, to judge, and to select who, out of the hundreds of students, is destined for greatness. Physical exertion wasn’t out of the ordinary for Kareina; in fact, he reveled in it. Yet the mere mention of the event made his mind spiral in every direction possible.
With his thoughts getting the better of him, Kareina pulled out his earbuds and shuffled through his playlists until the right song could help drown out the noise. He watched as the cityscape changed, the fast and blurred facade of houses and apartments replaced by scenes of large open spaces for people to walk around and shop. Kareina exited the train as soon as the doors opened and made his way towards a coffee shop he frequented. He shuffled through his music again, frustrated that nothing sounded right, only to completely ignore where he was going and bump into someone coming the opposite way.
“Ow!” Kareina hissed out involuntarily. He blinked rapidly, hoping to regain himself so he could apologize to whoever he bumped, only to realize that the person in front of him was no other than his class representative.
“Daitan, are you alright?” Iida asked. His brows furrowed inquisitively, and his glasses fogged with condensation. He looked like he had been out for a run before Kareina had changed that.
“Yeah, I'm fine. I’m sorry for bumping into you.” Kareina quickly apologized, feeling embarrassed.
“Don't be. Neither of us was watching where we were going.” Iida reassured him, but it didn't make Kareina feel any better. Iida gazed intently, noticing the fidgeting of his hands, legs primed to take off.
“Is something wrong, Daitan?” Iida asked.
“Not… not really. I'm just a little on edge.”
“Is it about the sports festival?” Iida inquired, his brow arched as he took in Kareina’s tense posture.
“I-” Kareina sighed, letting out the heavy feeling he had been dwelling in, “It's a big event and it comes with some big expectations, so I'm tense.” He emphasized with his hands. Iida nodded, silently agreeing with him as he watched Kareina flail his hands as he talked.
“I knew that the sports festival was bound to happen. I'm excited, don't get me wrong. I just… I don't know…”
“And that makes sense. I understand your more anxious feelings. It's a big event; it means a lot of attention gets placed on you. It's a lot.” Iida sympathized with Kareina, hoping that it would ease his worries. Kareina smiled meekly, but his smile didn't reach his eyes.
“Thanks, Iida.”
“Of course!” Iida affirmed, a glint making itself known in his eyes as he puffed up his chest. “ As your class representative, it is my duty to make sure all of my classmates feel valued.” Iida played into it, hoping that Kareina would find it amusing.
“But as a person, I want to make sure you know that everything will be ok.” Iida rested his hand on Kareina’s shoulder, hoping that the gesture was reassuring.
“Again, thanks, Iida.” Kareina seemed to relax a little; his posture was less tense, and his shoulders were less raised.
“I was going to get something to eat at this place nearby. Do you want to join me? It’ll be my treat since I bumped into you.” Kareina offered.
Iida nodded without hesitation and accepted the invitation. The pair proceeded to walk calmly to Kareina’s original destination. It was a small cafe with a cute logo of a fluffy sheep smiling. The place was called “Ease -W- Beans” and boasted to be the prefecture's best coffee shop. Iida found the marketing adorable to the point that his cheeks glowed with a light pink blush. Kareina giggled under his breath at the sight but didn't mention it. Instead, he opened the door for the other boy and walked in behind him.
They placed their orders at the counter and took a seat at the farthest booth in the cafe. Iida sat across from Kareina, offering him the booth seat. Even just sitting across from each other, Iida could see that Kareina still seemed troubled. His leg kept bouncing up and down, and his eyes remained fixed on a spot on the table.
“Do you usually come all the way here?” Iida asked. It snapped Kareina out of his own thoughts, and for the first time that day, Kareina smiled back genuinely.
“I like trying new things when I can. I found this place not that long ago and like it enough to keep coming back.” A glint of something appeared in Kareina’s eyes; the little spirals in his eyes almost seemed to move with his own excitement.
“Is it that good?” Iida asked. Kareina chuckled, but before he could respond, a waitress delivered their drinks and food. He thanked her before turning back to his conversation, a smile now fixed on his face.
“It's really delicious. They rotate their pastries periodically, always using whatever is in season. Sometimes it's peach tarts, and other times it's chocolate and raspberry-filled scones. The drinks also rotate, but not as often.” Enthusiasm consumed Kareina as he practically bounced in his seat.
“Huh. This pastry is rather impressive.” Iida commented before taking a bite of his own food. He had ordered a croissant, which was flaky, buttery, and delicious. It melted in his mouth even as some flakes stuck to the outside of his mouth. It was warm and toasted to perfection, with a golden sheen on the outside and an airy center that seemed to absorb the flavors after he took a bite. Iida didn't know what to make of it; no words came to mind as he enjoyed the craftsmanship of the pastry.
“Wow.” Iida’s eyes lit up like stars as he stared at his half-eaten croissant. Kareina snorted and began to laugh at the mesmerized look Iida had before taking a bite of his own food.
They ate in comfortable silence, every once in a while talking about whatever came to mind. Kareina watched as Iida became more expressive. His hands began to mimic Kareina's own, using them to emphasize his words. He was more relaxed, comfortable; the stiffness he usually carried himself with was gone.
“What about you, Iida? Do you usually visit this city?” Kareina asked. Iida, with his mouth still full, shook his head. He swallowed what he was eating before clearing his throat.
“This is a new area for me. I lost track of where I was going, but this city has been pleasant. There’s a lot of greenery for such a dense area, which I wasn't expecting, but it's charming.” Kareina agreed before taking a sip from his mug.
“So, about the sports festival.” Kareina adjusted himself. “How has your training been going?” the booth squeaked as he moved in closer to chat.
“I've updated my training regimen to improve on aspects that I feel need to be improved,” Iida explained.
“My turning time is lacking, and so is my control in general when at a higher speed. My older brother has been giving me pointers.” Iida smiled as he mentioned his brother, with his gaze focused on the drink in front of him.
“That sounds so cool! Have you seen any improvement?” Kareina’s curiosity was piqued, his gaze fixed on Tenya’s sudden warmth.
“I have, or at least I feel like I have. Tensei’s advice has been helpful.” Iida’s eyes practically beamed with pride and a deep-seated respect for his older brother.
“I want to get stronger. Better. I want to show that his advice is working and that all this training is paying off. My brother is a great hero, and the thought of disappointing him at the sports festival makes me feel uneasy, so I need to improve. I need to.”
Iida’s eyes met Kareina's, a fire that wasn’t there now present as he directed himself at the boy across from him.
“I get that. All my free time after class has been spent training my family’s dojo. My body hurts, I'm tired all the time, but disappointing them is something I refuse to do. Winning it all isn’t my priority; I just want to show that I've been improving, that everything I’ve learned stuck with me.” Kareina found Tenya’s enthusiasm infectious; his sincere love and respect for his family were truly admirable.
“I guess we’re both scared of disappointing the people that matter the most to us.” Iida chuckled, smiling at Kareina in an effort to ease his anxiety.
“The best we can do is try. Demonstrate that we are making an effort in this. Being a hero is more than just interviews, fame, and money. Saving people is at the center of it all, and we can only do that successfully if we invest time in ourselves. I think that we’re showing we care about this by training.” Iida paused, “But I think we’re showing we care even more by being worried about how our families would react to us, too.” Kareina blinked at Iida, his heart feeling full and his breathing cut short. A sliver of something warm began to bloom, but he had no way of describing the feeling. He felt understood, but beyond just that, too. He felt seen.
“You’re right. We’re showing that we care, that we’re taking this seriously, and that we want to be better.” Kareina agreed.
“That's all that we can really do.”
“So I guess we’ll have to prove it at the Sports Festival. I hope you're up for the competition.” Kareina teased, a grin present on his face.
“Always.” Iida grinned back before being distracted by the buzz of his phone. He quickly pulled it out of his pocket, unlocking it and reading something to himself.
“Sorry, Daitan. It seems I have to cut this short. My brother is visiting and having dinner with us tonight, and my mother wants me home.” Iida explained, already getting up from his seat.
“Yeah, don't let me stop you. Please.” Kareina wiped his mouth with a napkin before getting up from his own seat and walking out of the cafe alongside Iida.
“It was nice talking to you, by the way. It's helped ease my feelings about the Sports Festival. Thanks, Iida.” Kareina said, feeling sheepish.
The crowd outside the cafe has grown denser, and the once-quiet streets are now lively with people speaking and street vendors.
“It's no problem. If you ever want to talk about anything, you can always talk to me about whatever is on your mind.” Iida smiled at Kareina, and that weird warmth began to bloom once again in Kareina’s chest.
As they said their goodbyes, Iida waved goodbye to Kareina as he jogged away and vanished into the crowd. Kareina, on the other hand, still with his arm raised, kept his eyes on Iida up until the point where he lost sight of him. The feeling in his chest didn't vanish, and before he knew it, his cheeks were dusted with a shade of pink he couldn't get rid of. He lowered his arm and turned to make his way back to the train station, the entire time thinking about how he would train harder just to give Iida the competition he promised.
As ive developed Kareina, I wanted to also focus on his dynamics with his classmates in 1-A. He's closer to some more than others. I'm mainly listing the ones that he's closest with or have an impact in his story.

Aoyama confides in Kareina, making sure to also leave room for Kareina to talk about himself as they progress during their first year at UA.
Bakugo and Todoroki
Bakugo and Todoroki both have a similar relationship to Kareina. Rivalry, the eagerness to prove themselves drives a wedge between a possible friendship. After the Sports Festival, Todoroki finds himself creating a semi friendly relationship with Kareina as he respects Kareina's drive to succeed.
A/n: Kareina is replacing Mineta in class 1-A. (Bye!!!)
As a character, Kareina has his own story within the greater part of MHA as a series.
Summary: Growing up in his family’s dojo, he's always been influenced to be better, try harder, and to help others. With these values, he was determined to join UA with the goal to be a better hero but also some day inherent the dojo and become the leader he is meant to be.
Relationships: Within class 1-A, Kareina has found himself developing strong bonds with his fellow heroes in training, some more than others.
A/n: Hello everyone! This blog is dedicated to my OC Kareina Daitan! I plan on posting everything that revolves around him. His story, special interests, abilities, relationships, etc.
Summary: Kareina Daitan, possessing the quirk Billow, is the son of Yua Daitan and Haruka Daitan. Born on March 22 and standing at 163cm, Kareina makes for a formidable opponent both on the ground and in the sky. Kareina possesses pale skin, green hair, blue eyes with spirals pupils, and air vents under his eyes that look like freckles.
Since a young age, Kareina has shown a deep interest in being like his mother and father. His mother's deep devotion towards her work, to him, life, and staunch beliefs on what is right and wrong, combined with the similarities in their quirks, inspires him to pursue heroics as a career like herself, and it leads him to eventually becoming a student at UA.
At a young age, Kareina watched as his parents demonstrated their own intelligence through their own methods. He found that both of them were unique and he was fascinated by how his parents were able to compliment each other.
Holding deep respect for his mother, Kareina does all that he can to prove to his mom he can handle this and prove himself to her, has control of his quirk. His mom trains him in a way where he relies on himself and his own strength before he can use his quirk.
Quirk: With a body structure similar to a balloon, Kareina can manipulate the air around him and in his body to his advantage. He can inflate and deflate at will for offensive and defensive attacks. If he reaches his limit, he deflates completely and needs 5 minutes before inflating back to a natural state.
Just wanted to make a post to celebrate Tenya’s birthday! He’s the character that got me into the series to begin with, so he’ll always have a special place in my heart. Here’s to another year of these two giving me the worst brainrot known to man!
