" you told me you were coming home hours ago. " which wasn't the first time. it seemed like became a normal occurrence now. late hours at the clinic and talk about a guy who came in looking for help. he couldn't stop thinking about it. " is it that guy? " tristan hated the feeling that grew inside his chest — insecurity and jealousy.

What was meant to be a run-of-the-mill wedding became something else altogether. Anthony was used to attending them, he was showing his face to be polite. He ought not to have had feelings for her, but there they lived in the back of his mind. He had hoped the nuptials would have quashed those feelings. But in moment of bravery and power she had read the offending messages, what a fool the groom was.
He had waited for a lull, for close family and friends to dote and fuss over her. Eventually he found her outside and he lit up a cigarette before offering the open box to her.
"I can't remember if you smoke anymore, but perhaps this is an occasion for one?"
"… are you okay?" nolan supposes that it's not the best question to ask — of course it's not, it's their own wedding that they just crashed, after all. as the best friend to the groom, he shouldn't have done what he has, especially not when he barely has any friends left at this stage of his life, but he'd be damned if he let them waste their life on a man that doesn't deserve them. "what you did was really brave." he acknowledges, even though he knows they're not looking for praise. sitting down next to them, he leans his head against the wall before lifting the wine bottle he's grabbed on his way. "might as well — it's all paid for anyway." he flashes a faint, rueful smile. "you want a glass?" / @karismatica
