                               DESPITE HER desire to be cold and aloof, she wasn’t very good at that. carina had always been the woman who felt things so intensely, whether that was love, hate, happiness, anger... whatever she felt, she always felt it with every fiber of her being. so even if she tried to be cold towards elijah or at best, cordial, she found herself slipping. she clenched her jaw at his words and she held her head high. “everything is fine,” she forced herself to say, in as light and breezy of a tone as possible. she wasn’t okay. everything wasn’t fine. but she would be damned if she let her stupid feelings get in the way. he was getting married and she had to accept that, and learn to live with it. “i’m just a little tired, that’s all,” she added to try and make the lie more convincing. “but i’ll be fine. i swear.”
