I’m so sorry this took so long, I have a lot of feelings about both of them  orz

~France~

OTP: England.  Spain is a close runner-up.  But England and France have such a hilariously antagonistic and powerful dynamic, whenever they’re together, there’s electricity.

And when they’re not trying to goad one another to death (which isn’t often), I can see them showing one another subtle gestures of passive-aggressive affection.

Also, I’m a complete and utter fool for FrUK family.  An utter fool.  They turn me to mush.  Also I think the longest periods of time they spend getting along is in front of the children.

BrOTP: OT3: The other two members of the bad Touch/Friends Trio, Spain and Prussia, of course!  I CAN totally see them in a sexy threesome too, but my favorite is their boisterous and unapologetic friendship.  Headcanon (but also probably fanon AND actual canon) is that they get together often to either just chill or have wacky hangouts and annoy people (Austria is a popular victim of their revelries). NOTP:  France is one of those people I can see charming his way into everyone’s pants heart.  Fandom bicycle but for good reason.  But I suppose any of the child-looking nations are a no because I see him being more of a caring older brother around them.

OTP:  Jaime.  I’m aware that they are both deeply flawed individuals and Jaime is on a journey of self-discovery which may show him that Cersei is not the best person for him.  And all I can do is shrug.  Yes, I agree that Cersei has not treated him well and has overwhelmingly screwed-up priorities.  But there is not a doubt in my mind that for all their flaws, their love for one another is real.  When he asked her to marry him, I died.  A lot.  And while I doubt that they are endgame, they ARE my current OTP for each other.  Sometimes I really enjoy fucked-up relationships in fiction, and this is one of them. BrOTP: Does Cersei have friends?  Her affair with Taena was interesting, but I never believed they’d have anything substantial and continue to doubt it. Still, it was nice to see her having a female confidante, no matter how briefly. OT3: Cersei and Jaime sharing their bed with someone?  I can’t see it.  But if there’s a group of three I wanted to see more of, it was Cersei with her children, Tommen and Myrcella.  They seem like really good kids and it would have been nice to see more of a softer side of her with them. NOTP:  With the single exception of Jaime, Cersei tends to have affairs with people who are not, in my personal opinion, matches for her.  I suppose my NOTP for her would be anyone too weak-willed or too uncaring to stand up to her.

I might’ve??  But please link me to it because I’d love to read it!!  Also, you’re the one that I learned the term “queer erasure" from(!) and I’m grateful there is a name for this tragedy because queer and bisexual erasure still pop up in fandoms and among company that it shouldn’t (e.g., media and people who work to celebrate diversity) and I’m glad it can be called out appropriately where it should.

Someone who is capable of both sarcasm and sincerity, romance and bromance.  Someone who makes me laugh, at both the absurdities of life and sometimes, at myself.  Someone who is unfailingly honest with me but tactful and respectful where appropriate.  Someone who values family and can get along with mine (and I count my friends as family too)!  Someone who isn’t afraid to be silly with me.  Someone I find attractive, who loves cuddling and who can be versatile during sex.  Someone who shares my beliefs and who isn’t afraid to take the initiative.  Someone who writes love letters.  Someone whose moods and interests are compatible with mine (i.e., more outgoing and confident, not less), but are different enough to bring something new to the relationship.  Ideally, someone who has an imagination and values my own.

mint choco froyo: 3 things I’m proud of

Anything I finish making when I finish making it, be it costumes, jewelry, homemade cards, or food.  Quality is important to me.  I put my all into my crafts and I love seeing the fruits of my labors!

I’m a hard worker in both my professional and personal life.  When I commit, I commit and I will do everything in my power to see things through.

I’m very loyal and I love the wonderful people who come into my life, but over the years I’ve worked on being able to distance myself from harmful situations as well, and understand that their problems are not always mine and sometimes best left to them.  It’s difficult because I want to help, but it’s not always up to me. While my ability to let go is still developing, it now exists and it’s strong and I value it very much.

I’d say I’m proud that I have such great friends, but honestly, I’m really humbled that I have such great friends.  They bless my life every day and every day I’m grateful for them. <3

jasmine tea: an unpopular opinion that I have

Oh man, do I even know what’s popular?  I’ll throw some out there, hopefully one of them will fit the bill.  As long as you love something and can readily celebrate it, you are a “true fan,” no matter how you came across it.  Craftsmanship is important for aesthetics and durability, but cosplay is ultimately about how much you love the character you’re dressed as.  Giving someone a second chance doesn’t make you a sucker (but if they need more than that, the you should reassess the situation and see if there’s another way to solve the problem.)

Lockets and keys.  \(°∀°)/  I’ve been obsessed with them and collected them since I was a child and when they began appearing on fashion necklaces, it honestly felt like a personal gift to me.

I'm sorry, this might be a little weird but I saw your Lagertha progress pictures and I just had to say how amazing it looks! As someone who really wants to cosplay her in the future, and if you don't mind me asking, do you have any tips or tricks for working with the material you chose for her leather tunic/breast piece?

Not weird at all!! I’m happy to give you some tips. :)

I used a what they call ‘Signature Series’ upholstery grade vinyl that is embossed to look like leather. It usually runs around $20 a yard at a fabric store. But search for remnants because you’ll get out a lot cheaper in the end. There are many other vinyls, a lot of them cheaper. The cheaper vinyls would also work, but because they are not as thick it won’t look as much like real leather in the end and it will be harder to weather because there isn’t as much substance to it.

As for working with it, this is my first time, and to be completely honest…it’s a bitch to work with.

You want to fit your sewing machine with an upholstery needle (a regular needle is likely to break) and set it to a longer straight stitch. (I used 4.5 on my machine) The machine is not going to want to pull the fabric through like it would other fabrics so I found myself having to give it a lot of help. Go easy on the foot pedal and stitch your seams very slowly. This will help the threads not get caught up and knotted. Also know that if you mess up a seam and have to rip it out the holes from the threads will be there forever. Once a hole from a needle or pin has been made, there is no undoing it. I used masking tape to hold my pieces together when I was sewing the seams. You can sew directly over it and pull it off when you are done without harming your garment.

Also…use overlapping seams as opposed to regular seams. You will not be able to iron a traditional seam flat because the vinyl will melt and you’ll never get the seams flat. They will buckle and look icky.

All of the detail and finishing work I am hand sewing. Which is really time consuming, but it gives it a better look in the end. Use a thimble when you do this part because you will have to put some force behind the needle to get it to go through the fabric. I am using various sizes on upholstery needles.

1. If you could come back in your next life as an animal, what would you choose and why?

I would make a great cat, and given how I act as a human, I'm arguably halfway there.

But I think I would also have made a fantastic hermit crab.  I already love the ocean and I already scavenge for food.  Now I'd get to travel the ocean floor,  pick a new portable house, and decorate.  Seriously, check this shit out:

2. If you could have one skill, no matter how mundane or impossible, what would it be?

I have always wanted to fly!  And if I don't want to attract city-wide attention, I'll go out to a nature reserve and fly around there.

3. Who would you cast to play you in an autobiographical movie about your life (right now or any time in the future)?

Keiko Agena.  Seriously, I loved her the moment I saw her in Gilmore Girls and I have every confidence that she would be scarily good at portraying me.

4. What food would you be perfectly content to have for all your meals for the rest of your life?

Gelatin desserts.  I'm getting excited just thinking about it.

5. Who was your biggest earliest childhood crush?

Aximili Esgarrouth Isthill.  Yes, I still know his full name.  Yes, this probably explains too much about me.

6. If you were to form a band, what type of music would it play, what would you name it, and what would your role be?

Indie folk music, I'm so mad "Sugarcult" has been taken because that wouldn't just be the name of my band it would be the name of my life but when my life isn't sugar it's gemstones, so let's go with "Facetnation" with the hit single "Crystal Clear," with myself as a lyricist and one of the vocalists.

7. Which one fashion item/trend would you ban forever?

The sagging pants/boxer exhibition phenomenon has mostly been eradicated but I still see it struggling to survive from time to time and I honestly believe a peaceful death is the more merciful course of action at this point.

8. What past time period in what place would you want to live in (for as long as you want), and why? 

Past time periods are fascinating to study, but I honestly don't think I would have wanted to live in any of them for years.  However, there are a ton of people I would have loved to have met, so if I could time-hop, that would be ideal!

9. Are you a shipper, and what was the first, earliest pairing you ever shipped before you even knew what “shipping” was? 

Haruka/Michiru.  To this day, it remains my favorite anime pairing.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my query, I now know that Grantaire is known as "R" because the letter "r" is pronounced "aire" in French and to say a capital letter you say "grand" before the letter (which I should have known, as I am studying pre-tertiary French this year). For example, a capital r ("R") would be pronounced "Grand aire", which is how Grantaire should be correctly pronounced. So essentially, Victor Hugo enjoyed puns tremendously and took great enjoyment from Grantaire signing himself simply "R" throughout the book.
