Shiva really is the greatest dad ever because both times, with ganesh and karthikeya he elevated them to a position above him. He turned Ganesh into a deity that everybody prays to before all other deities, including the trimurti. including him. He made sure you would pray to his son before you pray to him. As with Karthikeya, he elevated him to the position of being his guru. One of Karthikeya's names is Shiva guru nath. Literally at one point, Shiva himself sat below him and took knowledge from him

And he did this on purpose even though he knows everything so that, in future, nobody would question his son's authority on knowledge and dharma. Truly a dad with zero insecurity
