CONSTANT MEDITATION
As for happiness, it is one's essential nature. All suffering and misery pertain only to the body. If you do not identify yourself with the body, then the problem is not there.
Remember that the next breath may be your last and focus all your energies on self-enquiry.
Unless your spiritual practices are constant and steady, the tendency for action or inaction will gain the upper hand. You should, by effort, counter these tendencies and try to remain in a state of equilibrium.
In such a state, there is only peace and perfect contentment. As the spells of equilibrium increase through constant meditation, then, happiness is felt more and more.

DAY 888
Never expect to get what you give, not everyone has a heart like you.

Sri Ramanapadesam - Teachings of Sri Ramana
The blemishless Sri Ramana said, 'Take either God or Guru as your Lord. Until you attain liberation, keep in your heart [the conviction] that you are his subject. Remain without desires and live according to his command.'
O foolish mind, why do you forget this and get deluded?
'While staying at home, at all times when one is free from work, center the mind that runs and wanders, hold it and train it in the incomparable inquiry "Who am I?" '
The blemishless Ramana said this to me, but what am I, a dog, actually doing?
'Always hold on to the thought of your real nature.' I forgot this teaching of yours and was possessed by evil vasanas. Having become fit only to die, this poor man is now suffering.
- Sivaprakasam Pillai, in 'The Power Of The Presence'
......
Bhagavan's insistence that one should do self-inquiry at all times comes across very clearly in the following quotation that I have taken from an early, unpublished draft of 'Who am I?'
'Destruction of mind alone is tapas. This alone is one's duty. One who is doing his own work will not pay attention to anyone else's work. One should never give room for swerving from the thought of the Self. However many duties one may have, at all the other times not meant for performing duties, one must perform only self-inquiry. While standing, sitting, and taking food, one can do vichara, can one not? If the mind happens to forget the inquiry 'Who am I?" because of vasanas, when it remembers the inquiry, it should try not to lose hold of the inquiry again.'
