When Clara went wedding dress shopping she invited five people. Her mother, her two grandmothers, Rose, and Hunter’s mom. Her mother kept trying to push different styles of dresses on her, and Clara knew she meant well, but she was just getting so tired of it all. Even Rose couldn’t bring her back to the point where she was mentally ready to keep trying on dresses. She tried to call Hunter, but he wouldn’t pick up.
After a few minutes of trying to save herself from drowning in her own anxiety, she heard a knock on the door of the changing room. Hunter’s mother very gingerly entered the room. They’d never spoken alone before, Clare had only invited her because she didn’t have any daughters of her own, but the woman sat down on the floor beside Clare. She held Clare’s hand and simply said, “You know he doesn’t care what you wear.”
