but how would mc's parents, their sibling and Karus react to mc's passing? And for the sake of angst maybe all of them really close to mc 👀

They'd all be devastated, even if they weren't that close/didn't get along. The Venali house in general have always been a tight knit group historically and the MC's generation(s) is no exception.

But in the case of the MC who is close to their family:

MC's father, Arkus, would hunt down the person/thing responsible for their death. If it was sickness or something else in that vein the physician who treated the MC would take the brunt of that.

Alessia, the MC's mother would throw herself into her work. To most it would look like she didn't even have a grieving period, and to an extent it'd be true. Mentioning the MC in court while she's present would turn into social suicide, she wouldn't want any reminders of their death.

Karus and MC's sibling would never be able to act like they've gotten over the MC's death.

Karus would blame himself and likely spiral into a whole slew of bad habits. But only after helping his brother in law find the responsible party.

MC's sibling would take a page from their mother's book. Gone would be the era of them being nervous to do their work. They however, would eventually burn out unlike their mother, either their Champion or someone in the household would have to force them to rest.

Characters from a dnd game i’m in! On the left, sitting on a dead t-rex, is Ugru, my half-orc wizard; then on the right side is Devotion Astar, a tiefling cleric of Bahamut who belongs to @0lliewells. Then in the background it’s Karus the half-elf paladin of Bahamut (formerly of Tiamat), Felix Somnus the human (actually kalashtar) fighter and a monster hunter, and Krowley Helbrand, the formerly-alive dwarven sea captain and a sea monster hunter.

The cat, Cosmos, is Astar’s familiar; the octopus is Ugru’s, and its name is Fish.

I was going to make it pretty, at least in black and white, but turns out that’s very time- and energy- and focus-consuming, and i only have one of those things currently. So i’m just gonna upload the sketch cause it was already pretty everything-consuming as is.

Two dnd characters from the same game as Ugru: the first one is a tiefling cleric of Bahamut with his familiar, the second one is a half-elf (and an honorary dragonborn) paladin, formerly of Tiamat. They have both been through some shit recently, as a result of which the cleric resolved a long personal arc, and the paladin decided to grow a moustache.

It wouldn’t actually!  Karus spent, or at least tried, to spend a lot of time with a younger MC so neither would be too surprised if they saw him as a parent.
