Lets switch it up a bit, what if in the days end your OC finds their room unlocked and a letter left somewhere inside. Maybe atop a desk, a bed, somewhere noticeable. The contents? Hate mail. How do they react to being sent death threats? Horrible mean comments telling them to watch their back, that they should die, and perhaps other horrible things.

I'll let you decide the contents of the mail itself, it can be someone being creepy and stalking them - someone threatening to kill them, someone saying false things or even blackmailing them. But the general idea is it's something BAD. And that they should watch out.

What's their game plan? their reaction? What do they do? Do they try to find the sender? What if it reaches the point that the day after that things are left at the doorstep of their room. Maybe a gutted fish or a dead rat, their door painted with horrible phrases.

Hale: he's definitely gonna be heartbroken. What did he do? Was it his fault? Did this person see his face? He'd be in tears. He'd probably tell Musketio, Scrya, intar and others he trusts about this because, ya know, he doesn't wanna die. He kinds just wants to know what he did to try and fix it. If it got so bad to the point it's dead animals or painting his door, he'd stay with someone he trusts deeply. He'd move some of his stuff too so he can still do his job.

Syren: she probably gets many of these from 'hero' puppets. She'd laugh and toss it in to her waters to dissolve. If they want to fight her, they know where she is. She's not scared, as a matter of fact, she'd probably go to someone like Musketio and be like: "quite a threat~ you dare threaten to kill me? How cute!~" Knowing it was most likely not him because of 'musketeer standards and morals', she just wants to annoy him. But She would deal with it on her own. besides, in her mind, she has no friends or anyone that actually cares about her. If it got too serious, dead animals and painting her door, she'd probably go find this person. If she can't, she would probably stay in the waters for a very long time, even after the death threats stop.

since i made my new puppet, The Redacted, im curious how Hale may handle him, and since he basically has his room as a place to stay in

would Hale try to patch up any memory that Redacted's amnesia has, or let him create versions of new things, since the truth might turn for the worst

Hale would do his best to help in the best way and It really depends on many factors. How much does Hale know about the truth? How would this puppet would react to said truth? Would this puppet remember the real truth anyway even if Hale tried to make new versions of what actually happened? There's a lot of factors to address with this topic. But I'm gonna say Hale would help with the amnesia and see what he can do to help with the reaction, should the truth be remembered.

I must admit I have a hard time differentiating pessimism from realism, but some of these opinions on The Healer and A colt is my passport seems soo negative to me.

The whole context of these films are not the best, but at least we can expect great acting from Ewan, and maybe these films won't be bad at all, they could be at least okay? It's not like Ewan has never been in a bad movie before (I really dislike High Life, for example).

No actor has been in only absolute masterpieces, and I'm glad Ewan is experiencing different things and hopefully these roles will open doors for him.

I totally get what you're saying and I think there's a useful distinction buried in here between pessimism and realism.

Taking High Life as your example. To me that film was an actual piece of shit, bless it. I didn't even make it to the end, gave it about five more minutes after Ettore died and switched off, no shame. I don't think anyone's holding the standard that every single thing he touches has to be a masterpiece. I thought Grantchester was pretty crap too, if we're honest, and life went on, the sun still rose.

I don't think anyone here believes he's actually going to be shit in The Healer or Colt. The concern isn't his acting, it's the projects themselves sounding a bit shaky on the little we know and that's a completely fair thing to say out loud. We're allowed to look at a premise or a director's track record and go "hmm, not sure that's my cup of tea" or "that could go wrong for this reason." That's not being neggy for no reason, that's just having a working brain. We're a fan blog, not a PR department.

And I also don't want to be a stan sat in a vacuum where we just blindly love everything he does. The whole point of this space is to discuss things properly, break them down, and disagree with each other sometimes. Not mean. There's a real difference between the two and I think it's worth something.

To me the fairest position is the one you're basically already living by: it isn't out yet. Watch it, then decide. Maybe it comes out and we all eat our words with a nice bit of humble pie. Maybe it doesn't and we say so, kindly. Both outcomes are completely fine, and neither makes us bad fans.

I think the reason the balance has felt a bit off this week is just timing. We've caught a wind of talking about these two projects loads in a short space of time, purely because there's nothing to actually watch yet, so there's nothing warm and lovely to weigh it against. I've been trying to slot in lots of silly, daft stuff between the more serious posts to balance it out, hopefully that's helping a bit? Right now we're just speculating on a synopsis and distribution rumours as that's genuinely all we've got to go on. Once there's real footage, a trailer, actual reviews, something to properly sink our teeth into, I think the tone rights itself. Give it time. It'll balance out, and so will we. 💚

The Healer never got picked up at Cannes at all by any company to put it into cinemas, but I'm also not surprised, the film... doesn't sound good. It sounds like a straight to streaming film or amazon exclusive.

Fuck, this is such a good ask since I've very much picked up a tone in the fandom reaction to this one. On one hand we're happy to see him in a proper lead type role. On the other the premise, and possibly the cast, has a fair few of us going "mmm I don't know about this one lol." There’s vibes. If it does get cinema release it will be one of those ones yanked after a week.

So let me offer some comfort. Every actor, and I do mean EVERY actor, has at least one absolute pile of dogshit lurking on their CV. Oscar winners included. Some of them have several. Ewan will be no exception.

Robert Pattinson made a rom com that ended with 9/11 as its big twist which is exactly as unhinged as it sounds and got critically obliterated for it. Didn't stop him then booking work with Christopher Nolan and Robert Eggers. Leo DiCaprio did The Man in the Iron Mask a film in which he starred alongside Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich and Gabriel Byrne, an absolutely stacked ensemble cast, and the whole thing was a complete pile of wank. He won a Razzie for it. The award collection between all those men runs into the dozens. Feels like Keanu Reeves had a decade of straight to DVD choices. The list is endless.

The thing people forget is that a film being shit and the actor being good are two entirely separate conversations. You can be amazing in something that is, in every other respect, a flaming trolley careering through a Tesco car park. "Everything about this was fucking crap except him" is basically its own genre of review. So even if it's shite he could still walk away with a good notice for his performance.

BUT. He also might be fucking crap in it. That is also fine. He's said himself he's still a young actor, and part of that journey means occasionally landing on your arse in front of everyone. This could be the film he watches back in a decade through his fingers. Everyone has one, thank god, since you learn absolutely nothing from the roles that go perfectly and everything from the ones that eat you alive. A proper public humbling is exactly what forges a real seasoned actor instead of a fragile little prodigy who's only ever been clapped for. It will sting. It will hurt. It will also be the making of him.

And selfishl for us? A true catastrophe is a gift to the fandom. This film could reach full cult status. It becomes lore. The cursed little entry we drag with enormous affection and quote badly for years. We deserve this.
