after Katara dies, Korra has her father build two new statues in the Southern Water Tribe.

the first is a statue with a fountain base depicting Katara as an adult, wearing water tribe furs, a permanent smile on her face, water flowing from her hands back into the fountain. the statue is placed in front of Katara’s healing hut, where other waterbenders who trained under her continue her work.

the second (Korra knew Katara would love) was in the tribe’s city square, near the markets and businesses. this one depicted both Katara and Sokka as they appeared while traveling with Avatar Aang, Sokka dressed in traditional warrior gear and brandishing his sword, while Katara extends her arm in a water whip movement.

during her travels, Korra always looked for a statue of Katara, her first bending master, and was always disappointed. now, she has two to visit, to talk to when she just misses her first mentor, to honor her and all of her teachings.
