“To the Liberated Youth”
by Nikka Elia Kim S. Ramos
The youth of today have somehow gone blind
Blind from their values and what keeps them aligned
They have been tempted to flee from hind sight
Adapting to human nature’s rebellious kind
Today’s teens have gone far from their limit
Their parents don’t even know that they’re doing it
Shameless to say that this is of stupidity
I wish the youth could grow some mentality
To my fellow youth, I ask you this
What good will we become out of it?
If you see yourself doing such in the future
Then you might as well prepare yourself for torture
For the youth of today do not mind consequences
For the youth of today do not see past shamelessness
For the youth of today don’t care about tactlessness
What sense is there in all of the intelligence?
Though some of my fellows have gone astray
I do believe all we can do is pray
Believe, even, that the youth can change
Because the youth of today was destined to be great
